New Shark Tracking Tag Developed

A new shark tracking tag is developed.

Scientists have developed a new shark tag they believe will uncover many of the mysteries surrounding the popular marine animal.

The new device, called the HammerTag, is now in its prototype phase.

In addition to recording up to 1000 times more data than current means, the tag costs hundreds of dollars less and lasts years longer.

The developers say it has what it takes to chronicle an entire lifetime of shark activities. Retrieval is also a breeze as the tag self-ejects and floats to the surface when the shark dies.

The rocket-looking tracker keeps tabs on the shark’s location and movement speed, allowing scientists to determine when the shark is at rest and when it is in pursuit.

One being it’s highly unlikely to be chasing is a human. Hollywood drama aside, on the rare occasion sharks attack surfers, it’s probably because they mistake the surfboard for a seal or a walrus.

Also, the odds of being killed by one are pretty slim. You’re better off putting your energy into avoiding bees, hornets, and dogs – all of which are involved in more human casualties.
