NYC Puts Weight Restrictions On Bike Rentals

New York City puts weight restrictions on bike rentals.

New York City's bike rental program has put restrictions on people over 260 pounds riding the bikes.

Although some disagree with the weight restrictions, the Department of Transportation says that the manufacturer of the bicycle recommended them, and that the rules will have to be self enforced by the users of the bikes.

The bicycle transportation initiative is supposed to address the number of people in the city who are overweight.

There are several potential benefits of implementing a uniform bike rental system in major urban areas, like decreasing pollution and making trips more convenient for people who don’t have a vehicle.

Over 300 cities in the world use a public bike sharing system.

Copenhagen and Berlin have had programs for many years, but there has been a recent surge in cities investing in bike rental systems.

Paris started their public bike sharing system by putting 20 thousand bikes in certain docking locations in the city.

What do you think? Should there be restrictions on the use of a public bike system?
