Thief Couldn't Steal Car Due to Manual Transmission

A standard transmission Corvette foils a carjacking.
Driving an expensive car increases the risk of getting carjacked. However one man lucked out, when his standard transmission proved to be too difficult for thieves to shift.
Randolph Bean, from Florida is the proud owner of a vibrant yellow Corvette. He had been parked at a medical center in Orlando when two men, one of whom was brandishing a gun demanded he get out and lay on the ground face down.
Bean states “They apparently couldn't start it. I had to tell him four different times to push in the clutch, because it's a standard transmission”. The would-be thieves soon gave up and took off on foot. Although Bean and the Corvette were unharmed, the crooks made off with his keys, cell phone and wallet.
This isn’t the first carjacking gone wrong. Last year, 25-year-old Joshua Carter from Louisiana attempted to carjack a car stopped at a red light. He began hitting the window and trying to open the door, but he made a crucial mistake; the vehicle was an undercover police car containing two federal agents and a state police detective.
Once Carter realized the car was full of officers, he ran from the scene, however officials chased and arrested him.
