Military wives are using a novel approach for bringing awareness to solider suicides, due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Ashley Wise, a Kentucky army wife started the campaign titled ‘Battling Bare’, where a powerful message is written across the naked backs of army wives. Wise’s husband had been in the marines for 8 years, before joining the army.

But something went wrong earlier this year when he locked himself in a room with guns and stated ‘he might do something stupid’.

Wise tried to get help for her husband, but had a hard time finding someone who would listen and take her seriously. She stated ‘Maybe a naked woman would get attention, and they wouldn't sweep me underneath the rug.” Wise’s friend, armed with an eyeliner pencil scribbled the vows on her back.

Shortly after the idea, the picture was gaining popularity through Facebook and other military wives felt compelled to follow suit to get the message across. The powerful body scribbled note states “Broken by battle, wounded by war, my love is forever, to you this I swore, I will quiet your silent screams, help heal your shattered soul, until once again, my love, you are whole.”
