Finnish Company, Rovio Entertainment Ltd, the creators of the super popular game Angry Birds has set-up its first international office in Shanghai and has big ideas for the Chinese market.
Disclosing their plans to open up the first Angry Birds activity park in China, the company's co-founder said that instead of opening up one large amusement park, they plan on building “hundreds, maybe even thousands of activity parks", trying to integrate small parks within local neighborhoods.
Why China? Well, after the United States, China is the second largest market for Rovio with 40 million downloads of the game. China will also be the first country to open up Angry Birds retail stores which will feature plush toys, books, clothing and more.
Approximately $32 million of Rovio’s $106 million in 2011 revenue was through the sales of merchandise and licensing agreements. Not just a game anymore, Angry Birds is a worldwide brand success story.
Most recently, the first official Angry Birds theme park opened in Finland. featuring games, rides and an adventure course.
