Residual Kid, made up of Ben Redman (12), Max Redman (11), Deven Ivy (13), and Grace London (11) have attracted a lot of attention lately. A band not old enough to compete in some youth band competitions yet, but producing music with talent that stands tall even in today's modern rock standards.
Brothers Ben and Max Redman began by taking to many of Austin's prime live music stages in 2008 as the Redboys, spilling their youthful talent and penchant for quality rock and roll. Their love for the classics and the newest modern had been shaping their own individual style and skills since they had been old enough to pick up their own instruments.
The brothers met Deven Ivy at rock camp in 2009 and as the friendship began, so did the musical bond. While the three began exploring their musical connection, they continued to play in front of audiences generally reserved for older bands, including an encore jam with Athen's Dead Confederate for the song "Giving It All Away".
In late 2010, they were introduced to vocalist and guitarist Grace London (11), an amazing and talented musician also well beyond her years. Her ethereal yet edgy voice and their musical chemistry has garnered them attention reserved for bands much older.
In a recent interview while on tour in the UK, Dead Confederate's Brantley Senn mentioned the show at the Mohawk in Austin and the kids joining them on stage.
