Maggie Khiane was born & raised in Dublin. She started singing at a very young age with the Young Dublin Singers & went on to take part in the Dublin Feis Ceol & Feis Maitu. She has studied piano and continues to fine tune her voice by training with Keneth Shellard of the College of Music.
Maggie started singing in the Folk circuit in the mid 1990s with Martin Black (of the Black Family). After the birth of her daughter Annie she began writing her own material & worked with Donal Lunny who produced her first single "Special". She joined forces with Andy McCluskey of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and was a vocalist on his Album 'Universal'. She also featured on Noel Brazil's Album 'Land of Love' .
Singles such as Luna have been reviewed by Mojo Magazine, referring to 'her breathy voice sprinkling moondust over the musical arrangements'. On the demo release of single 'Happy Day', Hot Press Magazine spoke of 'her magical voice that holds echoes of Eleanor McEvoy and Sinead O'Connor'.
'Out to the World' displays Maggie's fine songwriting capabilities with a blend of melodic, pop, urban soul and contemporary/world music tracks. Produced by Wayne Sheehy, the album features some of Ireland's premier talent, with artists such as Rob Malone on bass (David Gray), Conor Brady on guitar (The Corrs),Trevor Knight on keyboards and Bill Blackmore on flugel horn. It was recorded in Grouse Lodge Studios in 2005.
On stage Maggie is as comfortable singing unaccompanied - known for her stunning opening capellos - as she is in low key acoustic and full band performances.
