Dr. Jim Congdon, MD is a practicing Medical Oncologist at The Everett Clinic.
Hematology and medical oncology are two separate, but related entities. There are six physicians in our practice, but only two of us are certified in both hematology and medical oncology.
Hematology involves both malignancies, cancers of the blood and lymph nodes, as well as non-malignant conditions, such as anemias and clotting problems. So, I spend a little more of my day treating folks with those conditions, as well as an array of other malignancies.
Cancers of the blood compose a rather heterogenous group of various malignancies, all the way from acute leukemia to very indolent lymphomas.
