Thousands of workers riot at Chinese World Cup football factory

More than 7,000 workers at a factory supplying World Cup footballs to Adidas went on the rampage recently, smashing windows and overturning cars. The trouble began when overzealous security guards at the Smartball factory in Jiujiang, Jiangxi province, refused to allow two female workers back into the factory without passes. The argument quickly descended into a full-blown riot after the guards beat up another worker who tried to intervene. The riot lasted for around two hours and only calmed down after police took the security guards away for questioning.
