Thanksgiving - Wine and Calories: Nutrition

The lower calorie wines are going to be the, generally, the wines that have less alcohol content, or are more dry. The higher calorie wines are going to be the sweeter wines, especially the dessert wines. So a dessert wine would have about as many calories in a 2 ounce pour, as a regular wine would have in a 5 ounce pour. So it is important to be careful with those around the holidays, and just be careful how much you drink.

Generally, the low calorie wines, as a general rule, white wines are lower in calories than red wines. And some of the examples of lower calorie wines are Chardonnay, White Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon. That's one exception that's red. And then, some of the higher calorie wines would be Red Zinfandel, Cabernet, Sherry, and port wine.
