Tips on Using Your Cutting Board

Using Cutting Board Safely - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. I am going to show you how to use a cutting board safely. You might be thinking “Well, I thought a cutting board was safe”. Well, it is more about food safety than hurting yourself with your cutting board. So, I like to use on my every day cooking is a plastic polyether cutting board, and the one I have has ribs on it, and that keeps it steady. Now if you do not have that, you can put a damp paper towel or a damp right cloth towel or if you have shelf lining, and that will keep it stable. So, that keeps it safe. Another thing I also like to use is flexible ones on top, they are too, they are very thin so I do not like cutting directly on the table. So, they are, as you can see they are color coded, this one is green and that is for produce and this one is yellow and it is for poultry. I also have a red one for meat and a blue one for sea food. When I am done using the poultry, I just take this over and put it in the dish washer. So that keeps you from getting raw poultry juices on your produce by using a different cutting board.
