Top Grilling Tips

Top 5 Grilling Mistakes - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Here are some of my top tips for great grilling. First of all, make sure your grill is clean. Use a stiff wire brush to rub off all of the residue from the last meal before you put this weeks meat on the grill. Second, you always want to make sure that you have an oiled surface to work on so your meat does not stick to the grill. You can use oil in a marinade or coating for your meat. But what I also like to do is to take a little bit of neutral oil like canola, pour it on a folded paper towel. Then I take my folded paper towel with the tongs for the grill, rub that on the grill rods, hotm just before I am about to put the meat on. That will help prevent the meat from sticking. Third and most important is using a remote thermometer. Every time you open the lid of your grill, you are releasing heat. That is going to prevent your meat from cooking effectively. By using a thermometer you will be able to tell exactly when your meat is done to the proper temperature without ever having to lift the lid. You take the probe point of the thermometer, place it into your meat at an angle. Making sure that it does not go all the way through touching the grill rods. Then you close the lid, keep thee thermometer readout on side of your grill. It will tell you when you got to the right temperature. Which is usually about 145 for medium rare meats, 165 for poultry. Open the lid and you are ready to go and enjoy.
