As a former Motor Rally correspondent for the BBC during the 1970's & 1980's I was privilaged to have broadcast from the events , bringing up to the minute reports , often from the very special stages that the cars & crews tackled as they battled against the clock.,

There was a meteoric advance in the competition by Manufacturers to construct the very latest. car that would grab victory on the Monte Carlo Rally, The East African Safari Rally , The Rally of the 1,ooo Lakes and the RAC Rally of Great Britain....plus other gruelling events that would test Cars & Crews in their modified steeds to the limit on Special stages...These locations attracted multi thousands of spectaors through out the World Rally Championship events In 1986 Finnish ace Henri Toivonen & Co-driver were killed when their Group B Lancia crashed and burst into flames on the Tour De Corse Rally in Corsica.... Group B was BANNED
