Film and pictures of a controversial meeting between Hitler and the Royal British Legion have been found.

A delegation of old World War 1 soldiers travelled to Berlin in 1935, headed by Major Francis Fetherston-Godley, the legion's chairman.

They were meet by hundreds of German veterans sporting swastikas and while being taken on a tour of Dachau they had meetings with Hitler and Rudolph Hess.

The trip, which were meant as a fact finding mission for the charity to check on overseas troops, was used by the Nazis as propaganda.

The incident caused a bitter split within the organisation.

The pictures were discovered by an RBL worker accidentally, when the Legion was moving offices.
