For our April 2009 celebration of Astronomy Day, the U.M.D. Planetarium was the site of a mock mission for astronauts to return to the moon. The Arrowhead Astronomical Society in collaboration with the U.M.D. Astronomy Club and the Planetarium staff worked on this project. As commemoration of once again returning to the moon, it was decided to use the Apollo 13 misfortune as the platform to getting there, but this time achieving a landing on the moon. It was our hope, that by watching the difficulties of a mission to the moon, the audience would embrace the challenge of space exploration and understand more about science, astronomy, space, the moon and of course coming to realize what a wonderful world we live upon.
