00:00Now, let's discuss this with Serbian parliament member Aleksandar Pavic joining me right now to help make sense of all of this.
00:07Aleksandar, I'm happy to have you join me.
00:09So do you think there is something political going on here or there was a genuine reason to prevent him from traveling?
00:18Well, of course, it's political.
00:21And that's the thing.
00:23Politics is being used to make, to deepen divisions within the Orthodox Church and between Orthodox faithful.
00:33We've seen similar, we've seen a similar scenario taking place in Ukraine, as we all know.
00:41And now politics is being used, police state methods are being used to deepen divisions between the Orthodox faithful in Moldova itself.
00:53We all know that, I mean, we all know, those who follow know that there is a sort of a, well, let's say a division within Moldova,
01:05whereas some of the faithful or some of the parishes are going over to the Romanian Orthodox Church,
01:13while the majority has remained under the auspices of the Moscow Patriarchy.
01:18But that's, let's say that's a religious decision, it's a spiritual decision, and it's even an administrative decision.
01:27But when you have police become involved, and this is obvious harassment having nothing to do with religious belief,
01:35then you know that politics is attempting to use religion to deepen divisions within the same people.
01:43And Moldova is a prime example of that.
01:48You know, we've seen Western meddling in Moldova, especially since the special military operation began in February of 2022.
01:57And this is all a part of it.
01:59We've seen meddling in elections, Moldovan elections, practically, you know, fixing elections in favor of the pro-EU candidate.
02:07And this is also, I believe, that the same hidden NATO, Western deep state hand is behind this latest provocation.
02:16Now, but what would be the potential motivations for stopping his pilgrimage?
02:22It's pure harassment, you know, it's, it's, it's, it's, and it's, the purpose is to raise tensions within the Orthodox community in Moldova, within the population.
02:36It's, that's what it is.
02:38It's a provocation.
02:39It has nothing to do with spiritual matters.
02:42I mean, what possible reason would you have to do something like this?
02:46You know, and also, anyone who's a real Christian, no matter whether they're Orthodox Christian or not, would never do such a thing.
02:56You know, this is almost sacrilege.
03:00It's clear what, what the purpose of the travel is.
03:03He's not even, he wasn't even traveling to Moscow.
03:05He was traveling to Jerusalem, where all the faithful who can go, and especially to, to, to witness the miracle that happens every year with the Holy Fire and Holy Saturday.
03:16I mean, you have no other reason to, uh, attempt to, uh, stop him from going, any, any priest, uh, to, to stop him from going there unless you want to harass him, unless you want to destabilize the, uh, community of which the priest is a part of.
03:36Now, considering what has happened to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the suppression of it, like you mentioned, how likely are we to see such an outcome elsewhere?
03:46Well, they're working on it wherever they can, uh, uh, uh, you know, a lot of it has to do with the, uh, with the so-called ecumenical patriarchate in, uh, Turkey, you know, the ecumenical patriarch has practically become a tool of the CIA.
04:04I mean, it's, you know, it's, you know, it's out in plain sight.
04:08And so within the Orthodox world, uh, divisions are being so deliberately.
04:14We've seen it happen in, um, on, you know, in our own region, in former Yugoslavia, we had several attempts of, uh, splitting up, uh, the Serbian Orthodox Church and, you know, inventing new churches.
04:27We had, uh, we had, uh, an example in Montenegro, uh, where actually a new so-called Montenegro and Orthodox Church was registered at a police station.
04:38Uh, so, and it was used for a couple of decades to try to split the Orthodox faithful in Montenegro.
04:45So it's an ongoing process wherever they see, uh, an opportunity, they will do it.
04:50And, you know, there are, there is proof now, uh, that, uh, the, the CIA was directly involved in the, uh, the, uh, division within the Orthodox Church in Ukraine and the attempts to split off, uh, the Ukrainian Orthodox, uh, faithful from, from Moscow.
05:09All right, we have to leave you here now, Aleksandar Pavic, Serbian Parliament Member, thank you so much for your insight.
05:18Thank you for having me.
05:19Great.
