00:00César you just had a top three placing before coming to Giro d'Abruzzo, how do you see this
00:05Giro d'Abruzzo for you? We're thinking about this is a good race, the team is looking for a good
00:12result and today also is a good stage for me and we did a good race also in PIVA so we are hopefully
00:20that we can do a really nice race. Is it a good stage for you because you kind of like uphill
00:27finishes? Yeah yeah today it's a good stage for me because the finish is in a small summit and I
00:36think I have good legs today and it's a finish for me. Do you foresee a big group coming together?
00:44I don't know I don't think so I think we'll arrive a group a small group with 30-40 riders and the
00:51sprint will be really nice. You're the local rider tell us all about the course of this Giro d'Abruzzo.
00:59Do you think it's a course that will surprise many people? Yeah sure I saw in the start list a lot of
01:06young riders and the parkour is harder than last year I saw it's more climbing so you can see a lot of
01:14changes during the stage and we will see what's happened. What kind of stage do you expect today? Well today
01:22it's a quite hard stage but I don't think it will be a big sprint a big bunch in the final but
01:32sure I think a little bunch like 50 or 40 riders to the finish. What are the skills required for winning today?
01:43I think you need to be really fast because it's a 1k climb but also a climber so because the
01:52last climb like Ari or Ripa is quite steep so you need to have a good explosivity but also ride good on
02:01the climb. What are your ambitions in your home race? Sure I will try to do my best on this stage race and
02:09we see what we can do. Why have you had a two and a half month break from racing and why have you
02:15chosen Giro d'Abruzzo for your comeback race? Yeah it was a pretty late decision by myself and the team
02:21we decided only last week that we'd come to this race and try and come back to racing and restart my
02:28season a little bit. After I arrived back from Australia I struggled with knee issues for
02:33around eight weeks now so it's been a disrupted couple of months and it's been a really stressful
02:40time not being able to race and especially some of my favorite races like Volta Catalonia I love this
02:47race and it was a shame to miss this event and yeah I've tried to build up slowly things aren't perfect
02:53yet but yeah hopefully we can come here and get four days of racing in the legs and just start to
02:59build the motor again. Could you win today on paper it's good for you? I mean on paper with
03:05with with some good legs I would I would love this kind of finish but yeah there's there's no
03:12expectation or pressure on me here I will just ride the race and you know I'll make a call during the
03:18stage if I have if I have good enough legs and I will try or I will support my teammates you know we have
03:24Georgia who's uh you know moving well and a lot of young guys who uh it's excited to be racing with
03:29as well so yeah for me it's uh really unknown um I've done a little bit of training but to be honest uh
03:36really not enough to uh to be confident on uh any sort of race at the moment so uh it's disappointing but
03:43hopefully I can you know feel my rhythm and find my way into the race and see what we can do and hopefully
03:49you know I can uh I can start well here and you know put myself in position help the guys and just
03:54find that rhythm again. Why haven't you raced for a while? Why are you at the Giro d'Abruzzo?
04:02Yes I got sick after Paris-Nice and then I had I couldn't do Catalonia and instead of
04:08working at Catalonia I now do Giro d'Abruzzo to prepare the Arden Classics. When you look at the course
04:17do you feel it's a good one for you? Yes I think um like all stages look um quite favorable for me and
04:26yeah I'm looking forward to each and every day and we have a good team here and I'm curious about the
04:32outcome of the series. You are an offensive rider do you intend to break away like every day or starting
04:39from today? Ah we will see uh how the race is going and um yeah there is no one big plan to attack on
04:48this or that climb but if the if the situation is good I will try my luck. In case you are there for
04:56the win. How do you see the finish with a 1.5 kilometer uphill? All right yeah it's a good finish
05:02for me I it's not so steep but it's in my favor and so yeah it's it's good. You said at the beginning of
05:10the season that your goal in 2025 is to get your first pro win. Do you feel it coming?
05:19It's here the level is it's really high when you do the step to the professional the people go
05:25really really fast so it's always difficult but for sure in this race I will try. I think it's a good
05:33race for me it have climb so I will try for sure and I will do my best and we will see. Today is it a
05:42good stage for you or is it an even better stage for your teammate Alessandro Covi? Today the stage is short
05:49climbs and short effort so I think the stage is good for the teammates. We will try to win we will do our
05:59best and and for sure it will be a very hard race. What is it like to be the strongest team on paper at
06:09the start of Giro d'Abruzzo? Israel and Tudor I think they have a very strong team it's also U36 they have
06:18good riders so so we expect them to do a good race and also we have a very strong team and we will do
06:28very good I think. David what kind of race do you expect today with the wind? I mean it can be a
06:37tricky day but what is what we saw is that the wind is just it's really strong in the beginning on the
06:41last part it's like the area is more covered so we need to get ready for anything that can happen but
06:47we don't expect like the wind will play an important role because looking how it's on the end yeah
06:56why do you race Giro d'Abruzzo before Giro d'Italia how can it help you for the Giro d'Italia?
07:02yeah of course I mean when you came straight away from from altitude training camp and you do a stage
07:08race like Abruzzo it's like I think for me it's a perfect preparation and then afterwards Liege and
07:13most likely Frankfurt and yeah I'm looking here to have like to get the the shape morning ready but
07:20above anything to get uh to get a good wrestle we will fight for the race and that's our main goal
07:25does it look like a race for climbers say it again sorry does it look like a race for climbers yeah of
07:31course I mean in the at the end every day it's like it's hard it's not any day like it's like really
07:36easy and uh and the final climb of the third stage is like a proper climb and yeah we hope that we will
07:42stay up there
