Porthmadog manager Chris Jones gives his verdit on defeat at Rhyl
Transcript
00:00It's a difficult afternoon, we're short a few players and then a 3-1 defeat at Vril,
00:05does that succumb us to third position or have we got a chance for second?
00:09I don't know yet, obviously you can't rule anything out until it's mathematically not
00:14going to happen and there's still games, three games to go for Holyhead and two for ourselves
00:19so we'll see where we are at the end of the season but yeah it just really disappoints
00:22us there because the lads have worked so hard and we've just three moments to give away
00:26goals that we shouldn't be conceding, ultimately that's cost us, I've just said to them in
00:29there, we have to work so hard to score goals, wherever we go we have to work so hard to
00:33score a goal but sometimes we give goals away far too easily and the away form's been the
00:39story of the season, it's been the problem of the away form and it's the same again today.
00:42Number of injuries as well, stretching the squad but we did come back to 1-1 with a great
00:49goal so that's your promise as well?
00:51Yeah I think we counted eight players missing today and four of them are at the back as
00:55usual, it's all in one position, not just injuries, obviously a couple of suspensions
01:00last week, injuries and then some other player availability and that's cost us at different
01:04times, it cost us at a vital time towards the end of December, January when we did go
01:08on a bad run, if you look back at the squad then we were missing a lot of people in the
01:12final third, today we're missing a lot of our defensive units and we're trying to find
01:17ways to still try and defend solid and get a result and it's tough when you're missing
01:20that many players.
01:21You've got a cup tie next week, is there a bit of a chance for a cup of silverware?
01:26Again I've just said to the boys in there, with all the support that we've had, the supporters
01:30this season and the people at the club, it's really important that we try to finish the
01:35season with giving something back and a cup final would obviously do that, give everyone
01:39a day out so we've got to go and ensure that we do that next week and then just keep fighting
01:43to the end in the league and see where we are.
01:45It could be a big game on the last Saturday, April as well, on the head of home?
01:50It's in their hands now, it's out of our hands, all we can do is try and get to the
01:54cup final next week which would be a great achievement and then win our home game before
01:59holiday and see whether we've still got a chance when the final day comes round.
