Porthmadog manager Chris Jones gives verdict on the 5-0 win at St Asaph
Transcript
00:00Could well have been a tricky game against Zindassa today, but a 5-0 win is resounding
00:12at the end, even though both sides finished with 10 players.
00:17Much needed win, obviously it's been a difficult six weeks to say the least, but I thought
00:22it was a good start to the game, a foothold in it, and then when they went on to 10 men
00:27I think we got worse for about 10-15 minutes while we were trying to work out how to go
00:31about it, but towards the end of the half we took control again and it was a good game
00:34for confidence, you could see the problems that we've had today in the life of the lads
00:39a little bit, but you could see towards the end and in the second half in particular the
00:43confidence was starting to come back to them, so we take this result now and try and build
00:47on it in the coming weeks.
00:48Because that's the first goals we've scored since the Llangenni away game, which is a
00:52bit of a concern actually, isn't it?
00:55I'm not one to make excuses normally, but we have had a lot of injuries in one area
01:00of the pitch, I wouldn't mind if all of our injuries were spread out, because every club
01:04has injuries and you can sort of look after it, but all of our injuries have been in the
01:07final third, so Brookie and Reece have had to take the full workload and sort of play
01:11every minute and we've not had the centre forward for weeks, so it's been tough in front
01:15of goal, but seeing Kavanagh get off the mark today, that's his first goal back at the club,
01:20Tom's done 30 minutes on Tuesday, 60 minutes today, Jamie Jones is pretty much fully back
01:25fit now, so John Littlemore, Jack Gibney are a week or two away maximum, so it's looking
01:30positive again in the final third.
01:32Very positive and big, big games coming up, games that need to be won if there's any assault
01:38on the top by the end of the season.
01:40Yeah, look we've just got to take it game by game, we can't be looking at permutations
01:44and what happens if this result happens or anything like that, we've just got to look
01:47after ourselves.
01:48Obviously it's been a difficult period, I'd like to think we've come out the other side
01:52of it now and we just started the season after 11 games with 10 wins and one draw, obviously
01:58there's 11 games to go now, if we go and have a similar run and look after ourselves instead
02:02of looking at other things, then we will go close.
02:05Great Chris, good afternoon, diolch yn fawr.
02:07Diolch yn fawr, cheers.
