00:00Are you able to verify whether Cam Neilley was an extra in The Outsiders or not?
00:05I think Wiggy brought that up yesterday.
00:08No, but I mean, it'd be easy enough to verify.
00:10I mean, I could just call him and ask.
00:12Yeah, can you do that?
00:13Can you text him while we are talking right now, please?
00:17I don't know.
00:17That might be difficult for me.
00:20Because it's all over social media that he was an extra in The Outsiders.
00:26One of my favorite movies of all time.
00:28And I went through the different scenes with the Soch.
00:31And he couldn't find him.
00:32And I'm trying to.
00:33But then again, he's 18 years old.
00:35So maybe he looks a lot different.
00:36He's Soch number two, I believe.
00:38Yeah, yeah.
00:38But you don't know who's Soch.
00:40Yeah, I don't think that's legit.
00:43But there's an article about him talking about how he was into acting.
00:47Well, but that's because of Dumb and Dumber, not because of The Outsiders.
00:52Well, you say Mighty Ducks was important to him.
00:56He said that?
00:57Yeah.
00:57He was in The Mighty Ducks, too?
00:58Or what?
00:59No, he wasn't in Mighty Ducks.
01:00Are you sure?
01:01I think he was.
01:02I think he was.
01:03Yeah.
01:04The second Mighty Ducks.
01:05Oh, maybe he was.
01:06Maybe I stand corrected on that.
01:08That's why we need to get Cam.
01:09Because if he was in The Outsiders, that's a classic cast right there.
01:13Yeah, his IMDb has him, Dumb and Dumber, me, myself, and Irene,
01:17the Mighty Ducks D2, stuck on you.
01:20Yeah.
01:22All right.
01:22Well, listen, just on The Bruins.
01:24There's a couple other topics I have ready to go.
01:27They're limping to a finish here, which I think we all gave up on a while ago.
01:35But a very important offseason, I would say, for Don Sweeney.
01:41I mean, we're talking about Cam.
01:42I think Cam is not going anywhere.
01:45But an important offseason for Don Sweeney.
01:50Well, from everybody's standpoint, it's an important offseason.
01:54I mean, they have to.
01:55They've got some people they need to sign.
01:57Somebody like Geeky looks like he's worth signing.
01:59They need to straighten out Swayman, who played actually pretty well.
02:03No, very well against Washington, despite the fact that they lost.
02:07They've got to straighten out Lindholm and McAvoy.
02:11Get them on the right track.
02:12But obviously, what they need is talent.
02:14And their talent is mostly, you know, naked in the center of the ice,
02:18which is the most important offensive position.
02:21So yes, it's a critical.
02:23And you're not going to find the answers for this upcoming season in the draft.
02:28It's just not going to happen.
02:29I mean, it would take a stroke of genius or great luck to find somebody
02:34that's going to step into the top six and be effective in his first season.
02:38It's just it's very unlikely.
02:40So free agency and, you know, more money to spend.
02:44The cap's up.
02:45So let's see what they can do.
02:47I don't even know who right now.
02:48I don't know who's going to be available.
02:50Teams will be scrambling to complete contracts before free agent free agency comes around,
02:56but they need to do some good business because they are they are riddled with holes.
03:01Mike, I think the most obviously it seems like the most important piece
03:04in the first thing on the menu will be the direction of the new head coach.
03:09Like what what direction do you think they go in?
03:13Do you who would you go after if you were in Cameron Sweeney's position?
03:20So I think that's probably the most important piece first, right?
03:23Well, the talent wins.
03:26You know, that talent is the first thing that you have to address.
03:28And, you know, you need a guy now that looks like you're dialing back the age of this team.
03:34So you're going to need a teacher.
03:35You're going to need a disciplinarian.
03:37You're also in this day and age.
03:39You need a good communicator.
03:40You can't just beat them to death.
03:42You have to be able to relate to them.
03:45And that's a lot to ask of a coach.
03:47And I'm going to guess that you're going to find a name that you probably
03:53haven't heard of before.
03:54Somebody that's younger, somebody that's newer to the game.
03:57And look at what this guy's done in Washington.
04:00He's been he's been terrific.
04:02And their team's turned around.
04:03And I think what they do need to do is get younger.
04:06And with a younger personnel approach,
04:08they're going to need a younger coach behind the bench.
04:11They kind of have to stick with him.
04:13But any thought about Jeremy Swayman and what he ends up being next season?
04:19And is there I don't know that anybody would take him at that number.
04:23But I mean, is do you have to consider trading Jeremy Swayman?
04:28I'm not considering it now, but I certainly want him to just stop the puck and shut up.
04:35I mean, really, do I have to listen to him talk about these,
04:39you know, platitudes after every game?
04:41I mean, you lost nine straight.
04:43I mean, just be humble, you know, go back to work and see what you can do.
04:48But, you know, I bleed black and blue and all this kind of malarkey.
04:52Like, can you just can you just be part of the picture, not just the center of it?
04:56So he's got some growing up to do.
04:59But when he's on, he's a hell of a goaltender.
05:01I mean, when I hear Swayman start talking about Mangione laws in California,
05:06when I just want to talk hockey.
05:07In all sincerity, Mike, why do we believe that Don Sweeney, who fired Cassidy,
05:14who went on to win a cup and Monty, who went on to have one of the better
05:19second halves in all the NHL, is the right guy to hire the next coach?
05:24I guess based on, you know, a long history here,
05:27they've had some good runs that been mostly successful during his tenure.
05:32But it does seem a little odd that both of those guys have been able to
05:36turn around different franchises after the move.
05:39I mean, sometimes you just don't know when is the right time to fire a coach,
05:43but it's mostly feel.
05:46It's relationships between the players and the coach.
05:48And clearly, when Montgomery was here, things weren't going well.
05:51A little different story with Cassidy.
05:53I think the team was in pretty good shape, but I think they needed to
05:56maybe grow up a little too because he was being a little too firm.
06:00But, you know, that's history.
06:02But it's a good question.
06:04Mike Milbury, a texter wants to know what you think of Jay Pandolfo,
06:08who is coaching at BU right now.
06:10Would that be somebody you'd be interested in?
06:12Boy, he had a hell of a career in New Jersey.
06:16He was a reliable player, intelligent player,
06:20you know, not overwhelmingly gifted player.
06:23But, you know, he was he put a long, strong career.
06:26And obviously, here's a guy that got his team in the final four.
06:30And you'd have to consider him.
06:33I mean, I think there's reason to consider a guy like that.
06:36He kind of fits the profile of what I was just talking about, correct?
06:39You know, he's a younger guy, responsible when he played as a defender and knows
06:46the game intimately and obviously can work with young players.
06:48So, yeah, he'd be on my radar.
06:51Mike, you bring up Montgomery and the firing of him, but they were eight,
06:54nine and three when they did fire him at the beginning of the season.
06:58And he led this team on a historic run just a year ago.
07:01So was that a mistake?
07:03In hindsight, when you look at the derailment of the season,
07:06was that did they actually shoot themselves in the foot?
07:10I it didn't work.
07:13I can put I can put that in perspective.
07:16It just didn't work.
07:17I mean, you're right.
07:18They weren't playing very well.
07:19And it looked like they were discombobulated.
07:22They were out of sync.
07:22They weren't playing with any kind of rhythm offensively in their structure.
07:27Defensively had had been lost.
07:29And rather than waste the season, they decided to make a move.
07:33Now, it didn't work.
07:35It didn't turn it around.
07:36And and there were lots of other factors involved,
07:39losing key players for for pretty good stretches of time.
07:42But, you know, I don't know how to gauge that, except that now it looks
07:47it looks bad for Sweeney.
07:48It looks it looks tough on him.
07:50And but and I feel bad for Joe Sacco because he was given an impossible task.
07:55And he's probably not going to get an opportunity to do the job going forward.
07:59But c'est la vie.
08:01These are tough decisions that guys make.
08:03But you make them sort of in the spur of the moment.
08:05And you try to do the best for what's going forward for your team.
08:10And sometimes you win.
08:11Sometimes you lose.
08:12And sometimes you make a good one.
08:13And sometimes you make a bad one.
08:14He's made some tough ones lately, Don Sweeney.
08:17But his history says that he's he knows what he's doing.
08:20But will they give him that opportunity?
08:22I don't know.
08:23I believe Scheim has one for you as he prepares his NHL draft lottery mock.
08:29No, no, no, no NHL mock drafts, Greg.
08:32But Mike, on a non Bruins related note, are you excited to watch Alex Ovechkin
08:36over the next couple of games, try and break that Gretzky record?
08:39You know, I am.
08:40He's he's really put in a great body of work.
08:45I mean, he's I remember scouting him when he was in just a junior.
08:49And, you know, they won the lottery to get that pick.
08:52And it was what a bonanza for them.
08:56But it took a while for him to figure it out.
08:58Not just the fact that he could stand in the face off dot and fire
09:01wicked slap shots.
09:03And, you know, I come to admire him for rounding out his game.
09:09But clearly, you know, nobody thought anybody was going to reach the total
09:13that Gretzky has.
09:14And he's just plowed forward.
09:16His tenacity and determination has been admirable.
09:19So, yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to it.
09:21Looking forward to it more than the colonoscopy I'm having tomorrow.
09:25That's important, though.
09:28Is he the best player of this generation, Mike?
09:30Or is it still like Sidney Crosby?
09:33You know what?
09:34I'm always partial to the guys that are two way.
09:36And he's much better two way player than he was when he broke in.
09:41But I'd still stick with Crosby.
09:43I mean, he's he's he's really he's got it all down.
09:48So that's my answer to that.
09:49But there's nothing wrong with going with a guy that does what you want to do to win
09:53the game, which is score goals.
09:54And he scored a ton of them.
09:56Mike, bigger ick as a guy owning or having a cat and being single or rushing off an airplane
10:03when you land.
10:06Wait, one more time.
10:07So if you're a single guy and you have a cat or.
10:10Well, first of all, that's a mistake, right?
10:13Or a single guy has a cat.
10:14What the hell are you doing?
10:16I don't know.
10:17Go to a strip joint or something.
10:18Forget the cat.
10:19Cutting the cat.
10:20Jesus Christ.
10:21He got his eye on the wrong cat.
10:23Oh, my God.
10:24Exactly.
10:27I think you gave us the answer.
10:28Perfect.
10:29One of your I'm I'm getting text messages from apparently one of your political opponents
10:35who listens to the show.
10:37And it's Brad from Newton.
10:41And he says that he's afraid they're going to find your head when they do the colonoscopy
10:45tomorrow.
10:45So just that's funny, Brad.
10:50Is he working still?
10:52I don't know.
10:53All right.
10:53Well, we're going to see you.
10:54You're going to be behind the bar on June 26 for the pregame at your sister's restaurant,
11:00right?
11:01I will.
11:01We'll have fun.
11:02I guarantee it.
11:04There he is.
11:05Mike Milbury on a Bruins Thursday and a half.
