00:00Agricultural Secretary Francisco Chu Laurel Jr. is studying the implementation of a total overhaul of the Minimum Access Volume for pork.
00:09The MAV, which has been in operation for almost three decades, is an import system.
00:14Under this system, pork will only receive 15% tariff, which is lower than the 25% tariff rate.
00:24According to Chu Laurel, the rules for the MAV, where the Government's Policy and Planning Office is based, are now being adjusted.
00:33The rules require the MAV to pass an output by October.
00:39In addition, a lot of things need to be fixed up to this point.
00:43Especially, the MAMI-MINI will not benefit from the minimum tariff that is being implemented under the Pork MAV.
00:51Remember that the Department of Agriculture was the first to implement the Maximum Suggested Retail Price for pork in Metro Manila to control the price increase.
