00:00Meanwhile, the Makabayan bloc has called for former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque
00:05to return to the Philippines following his involvement in a new controversy.
00:10During a recent House Tri-Committee hearing,
00:13social media influencer Vicente Pebbles Kunanan accused Roque of being behind a malicious online video
00:20targeting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
00:23While Roque denied the allegations claiming political persecution,
00:27House Deputy Minority Leader Franz Castro disagreed,
00:31stating that Roque should face the committee's questions in the proper venue, the House of Representatives.
00:37For his part, Kabataan Party List Representative Raul Manuel added
00:42that the former government official should return to the country and prove his statements.
00:48Meanwhile, House Assistant Majority Leader Jude Asidre emphasized that
00:52though spreading false information should be held accountable,
00:55stressing this is not about suppressing free speech,
00:59but of ensuring voices are used responsibly and, more importantly, truthfully.
