00:00The House Strike Committee held its fourth hearing on fake news earlier today.

00:05During the initial hearing, several social media personalities apologized and admitted spreading disinformation.

00:13But the hearing became more intense following a new revelation.

00:17A resourced person revealed that former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque was allegedly behind a malicious online video targeting the president.

00:27Our Mela Lesmoras tells us more.

00:32Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque really needs to come home.

00:37This was the House Macabayan Block's assertion after Roque's involvement in yet another controversy.

00:43During the House Strike Committee hearing yesterday, social media influencer Vicente Bencalo Pebbles Cunanan boldly revealed that Roque was allegedly behind a malicious online video targeting President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.

00:56Although Roque strongly denied the allegations in a statement claiming it was yet another case of political persecution.

01:04However, House Deputy Minority Leader Franz Castro disagrees.

01:08Sigin ko hindi naman yung political persecution kasi kailangan niya talagang harapin yung mga tinatanong sa committee at yung proper venue for that ay dito sa House of Representatives.

01:22For another member of the Macabayan Block, Kabataan Partly's Representative Raul Manuel said, instead of hiding, Roque should just prove his statements.

01:31Di ba yun nga yung sabi nila, we are a sovereign country, kung ano yung mga issues sa sariling bansa, tapat primary dito sinasettle, di ba?

01:43So yun yung ginagamit nila sa maling paraan para depensahan si Rodrigo Duterte.

01:48Ngayon din yung gusto natin ibalik sa kanya.

01:50Kung naniniwala siya na bumaga na ang justice system dito sa atin at yung mga Pilipino ay pangunahin dapat managot dito sa ating bansa, then i-prove nyo rin yun by going home.

02:08Meanwhile, in a separate statement, House Assistant Majority Leader Jude Asidre emphasized that those who recklessly spread false information in the country must be held accountable.

02:19He said, this is not about suppression of the freedom of speech, but rather a way to ensure that when we exercise such right, what we say is right and true.
