00:00Following the eruption of Kandlaon volcano in Negros Occidental on Tuesday morning,

00:06a voluminous ash plume rose at least 4 kilometers above the vent before drifting west and southwest,

00:14according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or FIVOX.

00:18This prompted affected local government units to cancel classes and work in government offices due to ashfall.

00:26PTV's Rod Lagosad has the report.

00:31Following the explosive eruption of Kandlaon volcano yesterday, ashfall continues to affect areas near the volcano.

00:37According to the Office of Civil Defense, ashfall has affected the LGUs of Bago, La Carlota, La Castellana, San Carlos and Kandlaon.

00:46Substantial ang naging epekto sa mga bayang ito, nagre-resulta sa paninira ng pananim,

00:53mababang visibility sa ating mga kalino dahil maalikabok, at syempre mapanganib sa ating mga kababayan,

01:02lalong-lalong sa kanilang mga respiratoria.

01:04The situation was made worse with the rain in the area, making it more difficult to deal with the ash.

01:09He added that classes and work have been suspended in affected areas due to the ashfall.

01:14They also monitored a slight increase in the number of people in evacuation centers following the incident.

01:19In connection with this, affected LGUs sought for assistance with OCD distributing face mass and water,

01:24knowing how ashfall can contaminate water sources.

01:27Ayon sa mga ulat, amoy na amoy din yung sulfur, so talagang may pangunang request ng face mass.

01:35Mabuti naman din na meron tayong nakapreposition dito.

01:40Sa aking tala, merong mga halos sabindalawang ligong tirasong face mass na nakaprepare sa OCD warehouse sa NIR.

01:51Ito ay nakahandang mag-complement kung sakasakaling merong mga localities nakakapusin ng face mass.

01:59In addition, water filtration units have been set up in Philippine Red Cross along with LGUs of scent water trucks.

02:05Meanwhile, FIBOX has not observed any increase yet in the monitored parameters at Kanlaon Volcano after yesterday's explosive eruption.

02:12Wala tayong nakitang pag-increase sa monitored parameters, so hindi pa natin kailang itaas yung alert level from alert level 3 to alert level 4.

02:22Now, hindi rin natin pwede pa munang ibaba yung alert level 3 from alert level 3 to alert level 2 kasi nga po, as we've seen yesterday,

02:31nagkaroon pa po ng eruption and we have to assess this on a day-to-day basis.

02:39He added that Kanlaon Volcano remains at alert level 3, which still poses a possibility of a repeat of the short-lived eruption like yesterday, which previously occurred last December.
