00:00This week Merseyside is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors to the
00:05Randox Grand National Festival of 2025. The three-day festival which takes place
00:10from Thursday 3rd to Saturday 5th of April is one of the biggest events in
00:14the global sporting calendar and attracts more than 150,000 people to
00:19Aintree. It's broadcast live to a television audience of around 8 million
00:23people worldwide. Merseyside Police has a long tradition of supporting
00:27organisers of major events in partnership with other emergency
00:31services and stakeholders. With months of extensive planning taking place by
00:35experienced officers and staff to ensure everyone has a great time and enjoys the
00:39event safely. With public safety as a priority the force have been working
00:43closely with the Jockey Club at Aintree Racecourse and their partner
00:47organisations in the region so visitors can have a memorable and enjoyable time.
00:52As a result racegoers should expect to undergo a series of security checks
00:56including bag searches and badge checks. Only pre-booked vehicles will be allowed
01:01onto the Aintree site and there are parking restrictions around the course
01:05which will be rigorously enforced. Those attending are reminded to plan ahead,
01:10respect each other and enjoy themselves responsibly. Racegoers are being advised
01:14to plan their journey in advance giving themselves plenty of extra time to make
01:19their journey. During the meeting the roads around the racecourse can become
01:24and some are closed altogether to traffic. Those who do travel by car are
01:28advised to car share where possible or get a friend or relative to drop you
01:31within a walkable walking distance from the course. Aintree Railway Station is a
01:36one-minute walk from the main entrance to the racecourse. Regular trains will be
01:40running on all three days to and from Liverpool and from Orbskirk.
