00:00The Department of Migrant Workers in Myanmar has confirmed that the need for Filipinos who work in the country is high.
00:13According to Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Kakdok,
00:16Filipinos who need to be rescued from the scam hub are also included here.
00:22Bian Manalo is in the center of the news.
00:26The Department of Migrant Workers confirmed that they are continuously monitoring the situation of our countrymen in Thailand and Myanmar.
00:34This is after the two countries gave a 7.7 magnitude earthquake last week.
00:41According to the Migrant Workers Department,
00:43they are continuously looking for four Filipinos missing in Mandalay, Myanmar, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
00:51The DMW is also contacting the families of the OFWs in the Philippines,
00:56as well as the Labor Attaché in Bangkok, Thailand, and the authorities in Myanmar.
01:01We are closely coordinating with Sec. Ricky Manalo and Usec Eddevega here in Manila
01:06and our embassy in Yangon through our Labor Attaché in Bangkok.
01:12One of our concerns now is if there are OFWs or Filipinos who need help in terms of food, water, and shelter.
01:21Now, if you remember, Sir Mike, there are rescue efforts in the Myanmar-Thailand border.
01:38As far as we know, those who work in illegal scam operations are currently being the subject of rescue operations.
01:46There are six of them in the government shelters in Myawaddy, and the news is that they are safe.
01:52According to the Philippine Embassy in Myanmar,
01:58they confirmed that they are continuously monitoring the situation of the Filipinos in Myanmar.
02:02In fact, they were able to send an advance team to Mandalay from Yangon
02:07to provide assistance to the Filipinos affected there.
02:11They already have area coordinator groups that are formed by Filipino volunteers.
02:16They will be their allies in providing humanitarian assistance.
02:21According to Nayan, there are 800 Filipinos registered in Mandalay, Myanmar,
02:27while 300 are here in Marks Safe.
02:30Some flights to Myanmar are still canceled,
02:33and the communication signal and supply of electricity and water there is still difficult.
02:38But we are doing everything we can to locate all our fellow Filipinos here in Myanmar,
02:45especially in Mandalay.
02:46So, let's continue to monitor their situation,
02:49and we are doing everything we can to help every Filipino here in Myanmar.
02:54The DMW is calling on the Filipinos in need of assistance
02:58to contact the Philippine Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar,
03:02and the Philippine Embassy in Thailand.
03:04In the latest news,
03:05the number of people affected in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake
03:11that hit Myanmar and Bangkok, Thailand,
03:14has reached almost 2,000,
03:15while more than 3,000 individuals have been injured
03:19and more than 100 have been missing.
