00:00As for the number of jobs in the country, it is expected that there will be more during the election according to the Labor Department.

00:06The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remains focused on prolonging the work for the Filipinos.

00:19The Department of Labor and Employment has no doubt that there are a lot of jobs during the election period.

00:24The campaign for those who are running at the national level is about to start.

00:29This is what Secretary Benvenido Laguesma said in the middle of a stable employment in the Philippine labor market last year

00:36and an improvement in job quality.

00:39Laguesma also said that he does not expect the same effect of the so-called political exercise

00:46which only has a seasonal and temporary effect.

00:51The Dollar Chief also said that they remain focused on prolonging the work for the Filipinos.

00:59We are not banking solely because there is a political exercise and there are a lot of jobs.

01:04We know that it is only temporary.

01:08What the current administration wants is a long-term job.

01:14As for the unemployment rate, the National Economic Development Authority said

01:18that it remained at 3.1% in a year similar to what was predicted in 2023.

01:26According to Undersecretary Rosmarie De Leon, this is the lowest unemployment rate since 2025.

01:34The so-called underemployment rate also decreased from 10.9% in 2024 to 11.9% in 2023.

01:43This is an indication that the quality of the jobs in the country is also increasing

01:49now that the number of people with jobs is decreasing

01:52but they are still looking for other ways of earning or additional hours of work.

01:58The country's unemployment rate remained at 3.1%.

02:04This is actually the same rate that it was in December of 2023.

02:09This is actually the lowest since 2005.

02:13If we have a thousand individuals in the labor force,

02:19we can see that only 31 of them do not have a job.

02:25This achievement is a reflection of the progress of the strategies

02:29that were implemented in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.

02:34This will also show a continuous improvement in the economy

02:38towards the creation of more and better job opportunities for Filipinos.
