Setting the camera composition, sections, and scenes in SketchUp helps create clear, organized, and visually appealing models for presentation and design review. Here’s how you can do it:
1. Setting Camera Composition
The camera composition controls how your model appears in the viewport.
Adjusting the Camera View
Orbit (O) – Rotate around the model.

Pan (H) – Move the camera horizontally or vertically.

Zoom (Scroll Wheel or Z) – Move closer or farther from the model.

Zoom Extents (Shift + Z) – Fit the entire model in the view.

Field of View (FOV) – Adjust the angle of view.

Go to Camera Field of View and enter a value (default is 35°).

Standard Views
Set Front, Back, Top, Bottom, Left, Right, or Iso views via Camera Standard Views.

Use Parallel Projection for 2D drawings (Camera Parallel Projection).

Use Perspective for realistic 3D views.

2. Creating Sections (Section Cuts)
Sections allow you to cut through the model to show internal details.

How to Add a Section Cut
Activate the Section Tool

Select Tools Section Plane.

Place the Section Plane

Click on a face where you want the cut.

Adjust and Move the Section

Select the section plane and use the Move Tool (M).

Toggle Visibility

Show/hide section cuts via View Section Cuts.

Show/hide section planes via View Section Planes.

Add Multiple Sections

Rename sections in the Outliner.

3. Creating & Managing Scenes
Scenes save specific views, section cuts, and styles for presentations.

Creating a Scene
Set your desired camera view, section cut, and layer visibility.

Go to View Animation Add Scene.

The scene is added as a tab above the viewport.

Right-click the scene tab to update, rename, or delete it.

Managing Scenes
Access all scenes via Window Scenes.

Check or uncheck options like:

Camera Location (viewpoint)

Visible Layers (layers turned on/off)

Section Planes (active section cuts)

Shadows & Styles (lighting and material effects)

Animating Between Scenes
Set up multiple scenes and transition smoothly using View Animation Settings.

Adjust scene delay and transition time.

Final Tips
✔ Use Styles (Window Styles) to change the appearance of your model.
✔ Use Tags/Layers to control visibility in scenes.
✔ Export scenes as images or videos using File Export.
