00:00I rise today in support of H.J. Res. 75. My colleagues on the
00:08other side of the aisle will say this resolution is unnecessary.
00:12We have heard that. But let's be clear. What is unnecessary is
00:15placing so-called energy standards on commercial refrigerators
00:19and freezers, which will only lead to higher equipment costs
00:22and additional burdens on small businesses. I come from the
00:26small business community. I have felt that. And again, that
00:31is what we're hearing from our small businesses and why I'm
00:34standing before you today. Time and time again, the Biden-Harris
00:39administration imposed new standards with high-priced tags.
00:43First it was regulations on your cars and trucks, then it was
00:46your gas stoves and your washing machines, and now commercial
00:50refrigerators and freezers. The list goes on and on. In fact, I
00:55stood on the House floor in the last Congress and defended my
00:59very own wife's gas stove, and we won that battle. But
01:04unfortunately for the American people under the leadership of
01:08House Republicans and President Trump, common sense has a seat at
01:12the table again. All we're doing is rolling back the senseless
01:15and unending bureaucratic red tape ushered in under the
01:18previous administration that harms hardworking Americans and
01:22small businesses. In fact, the Department of Energy estimates
01:27that standards on commercial refrigerators and freezers will
01:30cost approximately $8 billion, as stated earlier. The
01:33Department of Energy, which we know will be passed down to
01:37consumers. When did the Department of Energy get into the
01:41appliance business? Mr. Speaker, this is an easy yes vote. I
01:45encourage all my colleagues to support H.J. Shreya's 75, and I
01:49thank Congressman Goldman for his leadership, and I yield
01:52back.
