00:00Mr. Speaker, America and our European allies find ourselves at an inflection point.
00:12We have an amazing opportunity, and the actions we take today will shape the outcome for generations
00:19to come.
00:20The world is significantly more dangerous because of the Biden administration projecting
00:26American weakness to the world.
00:30Under the previous administration, America turned away from policies that had our adversaries
00:35quaking in their boots and instead bent a knee to the axis of evil.
00:42Make no mistake, China, Russia, and Iran are exerting influence across the globe that is
00:48causing harm and posing major threats to both the United States and our allies.
00:56It is vitally important that the United States and our European allies work together to find
01:00solutions that both combat these adversities and ensure that we stay ahead of them in the
01:07process.
01:09All three are trying to impose their will physically, psychologically, and diplomatically
01:14on Europe, and we must be fully prepared for whatever approach they take.
01:20As the Chairman of the Europe Subcommittee on Foreign Affairs, I will continue to lead
01:25both reauthorization of the State Department and regional efforts under the leadership
01:29of Chairman Mast.
01:31A significant part of our focus is achieving the policies that put America's interests
01:36first while building our relations with allies abroad among our common adversaries.
01:43We have taken major steps in the right direction under President Trump and his administration,
01:49but there is still more work to be done.
01:52Our NATO partners must step up to the plate, give 5 percent of their GDP for the protection
01:58of Europe as America shifts its focus to the Indo-Pacific region.
02:03The CCP has made significant advances in warfare, and we must remain vigilant while also building
02:10up our defense industrial base in order to be prepared for any scenario.
02:17America must not remain idle while our adversaries are advancing their capabilities.
02:23The Europe Subcommittee will do our part.
02:27I yield back.
