00:04Thank you, Mr. Chair.

00:05Mr. Krumanacher, thanks for your service to the National Park.

00:10I want to just ask you this question.

00:13When, in your mind, did you feel the Park Service was

00:17fully staffed?

00:19I don't think it's ever been fully staffed, sir,

00:21in my experience.

00:22OK.

00:23So it wasn't staffed under Bush properly.

00:28It wasn't staffed under Obama.

00:29Is that correct?

00:31It wasn't staffed under Trump 45, in your opinion.

00:35And it wasn't staffed properly under Biden.

00:39So as we move forward, I think that we

00:43have to look at making sure that, number one,

00:46the staffing is there.

00:48And number two, the parks remain open and accessible

00:53to all people, including those with disabilities.

00:57My wife and I are blessed with a child who is disabled.

01:00And so what we're seeing is we're working that angle.

01:04I think it's important that we keep that perspective.

01:08Mr. Perez, I have to tell you that I really

01:11appreciate what you do.

01:12I was in Yuma, Arizona.

01:16And then we went down to the Eagle Pass, Texas.

01:22I was speaking to some Border Patrol agents.

01:27And to my left was a young Border Patrol agent.

01:30I was talking about what they see

01:33as agents, dead bodies, murders, victims of rape,

01:38babies floating in the Rio Grande.

01:40And I saw this young agent just well up with tears,

01:45well up with tears.

01:47When I was done, I went over and I shook her hand

01:49to thank her for her service.

01:52And she says, thank you for mentioning that.

01:55What we have gone through these last four years,

01:59what you and law enforcement have seen,

02:02what the two other law enforcement professionals here

02:07today have seen, I'm sorry that you had to go through that.

02:13It's going to be different now.

02:15The border is going to be secure.

02:18You don't have to see babies floating in the Rio Grande.

02:21You don't have to see murder victims or rape victims

02:24or people who died along the way.

02:27I just want to say thank you for your service.

02:30I went down there more than the borders are dead.

02:33It was devastating.

02:36Thank you for that, sir.

02:37I just, I can't say it enough.

02:40And I will never forget that young agent crying

02:44because what she saw and she knew that I knew.

02:47As a law enforcement officer myself,

02:50there's only a few of us in Congress

02:51that have ever worn the local uniform.

02:54And I'm one of them.

02:56I knew exactly what she was feeling.

02:59So with that being said, it's going to be different now.

03:03I do want to say that we have a northern border too, right?

03:06We have a northern border.

03:07When that influx was coming through the southwest border,

03:10you were bringing agents from the north

03:14to help to give you some relief and help

03:17with the number of illegals that were crossing, which

03:22left our northern border wide open.

03:255,000% increase in crossings.

03:30The higher propensity of terrorists

03:33coming through our northern border.

03:37It's unconscionable.

03:38I am part of the Grand Fork sector.

03:41I'm northern Minnesota.

03:42There's 600 miles.

03:44At times, there were two agents.

03:47Only two on that whole 600-mile stretch.

03:52Because of the Biden administration's policies,

03:55they were bringing everybody down or making

03:58them work during the day to in-process them via computer.

04:03People say, Pete, what keeps you up at night?

04:05Terrorism to our people and our food supply.

04:12We know because of the Biden policies

04:16this country now has to be on red alert because of what

04:20may happen.

04:21You all know.

04:22You as law enforcement officers, you know.

04:24You've seen it.

04:25I've been down there.

04:26You as leading law enforcement professionals, your councilmen,

04:31your township supervisors, your county boards

04:33were begging us to shut down the border.

04:36They couldn't handle it.

04:38The schools, the hospitals, the social services

04:41couldn't handle it.

04:42The farmers couldn't handle it.

04:46One of the farmers lost hundreds of thousands of dollars

04:48of crops because when there's fecal matter or urine

04:52around a certain part, you have to remove the crop

04:57within a distance of that.

04:58Hundreds of thousands of dollars because of the policies

05:01of the Biden administration.

05:03It stops under this administration.

05:07In just six weeks, 97% reduction in illegal crossings.

05:13Mr. Perez and the others, thank you

05:15for your professional service.

05:17You have no idea how much we as an American people support you

05:23and we will always defend you.
