00:02I want to do a follow-up about the lines that you were just reading on foreign leaders,

00:07because it seems like this perception has changed after the debate.

00:11You mean the quotes that I was laying out for all of you from Chancellor and the Prime

00:18Because talking to diplomats here in D.C., they are telling me that there were...

00:22Diplomats who work for these leaders.

00:28No, I hear you, but I'm talking about the leaders who have been on the record.

00:32Yeah, but after the debate, what they are saying, that after the debate, a lot of countries

00:37are worried about the future of the U.S., and that it is a scary and embarrassing time

00:42for the country, and that U.S. leadership is at stake.

00:44And one said, imagine the Watch Party in Beijing and Moscow.

00:48So are they right to be worried?

00:52Look, there's a lot at stake.

00:55There's a lot at stake right now.

00:57There is.

00:59And I think that's why the President fights day in and day out on behalf of the American

01:03people.

01:04I got to be careful, because you're kind of...

01:06They're worried about, I'm assuming, the election and what's going to happen, so I don't want

01:09to speak to that.

01:10But what I can say more broadly, there is a lot at stake.

01:14And we see that.

01:15We see that with Roe being overturned, the Dobbs decision.

01:19We see that with what happened on January 6th.

01:22Our democracy and freedoms are at stake.

01:26And not only do diplomats and world leaders care about that, Americans here at home care

01:30about that.

01:31That is something that they worry about, and that is something that the President's going

01:35to continue to fight for.

01:37Going to be careful.

01:38I can't get into hypotheticals, what will happen.

01:40There's obviously an election going on, but there is indeed a lot at stake, and we talk

01:45about this all the time, democracy, freedoms, a woman's right to choose.

01:50That is important.

01:51That is important to fight for.

01:53And what Republicans are trying to do, extreme Republicans in Congress are trying to do,

01:57put three national bans on abortion.

02:00That's what the type of legislation that they want to push forward.

02:04So we disagree with that.

02:06We're going to stand with the majority of Americans.

02:10Two questions.

02:11One on NATO.

02:12So on next week's summit, does the President schedule any important ballots with the bilaterals,

02:19with the leaders, especially including Turkish President Erdogan?

02:24A second question is we know China have been causing a lot of conflicts in South China

02:28Sea, Taiwan Strait, and East Sea.

02:31Yesterday we saw Chinese Coast Guard ship harass Japanese ship near Senkaku Islands,

02:37also detained a Taiwanese fishboat at Taiwan Strait.

02:40What is White House reaction to those conflicts?

02:42So on the fishboat, we're obviously closely monitoring the incident, so we're going to

02:48continue to do that.

02:50And as far as any bilateral meetings, I don't have anything to read out to you at this time.

02:55I believe NSC is going to do a call on Friday to talk through what next week is going to

03:01look like with the NATO summit being here in D.C.

03:04So I would say stay tuned, look out for that, and we'll have more to share.

03:11And obviously, when there is a bilateral meeting, we certainly share that with all of you.

03:15Just don't have anything to preview at this time.

03:17Can I follow up?

03:18Has U.S. reached out to Japan and Taiwan for support over those incidents with China?

03:24Well, I don't have any calls, obviously, to speak to at this time, but we encourage both

03:29sides to maintain open lines of communication so they can get to a resolution here.

03:34And that's what we call for.
