What would you see in the Supercross pits if you had an all-access pass?

00:30Tell me about the stories.
00:34The stories. I actually used to do
00:38Karaoke Friday on Snapchat
00:42and everybody loved it. I was getting like
00:465,000 or 6,000 views every time on my Snapchat stories and
00:50I kind of died out after a little bit and then
00:54after I think somebody mentioned
00:58bringing it back and I just posted a short little clip of me singing
01:02and I put the voting thing
01:06and it was like 95%
01:10yes. So I'm
01:14bringing it back dude. Karaoke Friday. Every Friday.
01:18Do you take fan requests? I haven't been but I think
01:22I'm going to start because I've had a couple fan requests
01:26come in. Raphael.
01:30Danny. Dude, this week you surprised
01:34me with the new Showtime Moto 9 Myth
01:38and dude, you should have heard me scream like a little girl.
01:42I'm glad you liked it. Yeah, that one turned out really good.
01:46That one's coming out in March. I'm really excited for that one.
01:50So, I have to imagine the McGrath replicas are some of the
01:54best sellers. Definitely. It's really crazy
01:58what a following Jeremy still has and how many
02:02people love it. I think it's just because he's such a great ambassador and
02:06really awesome and involved in the sport. So, I think that makes a big deal.
02:10Okay, so the new Showtime helmet is a Moto 9 Myth, correct?
02:14So, it's what? $399? Yep.
02:18So, that's kind of like our mid-price point helmet for
02:22off-road. The Moto 9 Myths, yep. Okay, so
02:26all the riders here that you sponsor in the paddock are probably in Flex
02:30I imagine, right? Yeah, so all of our
02:34athletes here in Supercross and most of them out in the world
02:38of even like off-road or Dakar, even Toby Price
02:42just won, they all wear Flex. That's our
02:46premium proprietary technology energy management impact line area.
02:50Can you talk a little bit, give me the 50 cent summary of how
02:54Flex works. Flex, so
02:58Flex uses three different materials. EPS
03:02which is like the standard material that everybody's been using
03:06for a very long time and then we use two other materials
03:10EPP and EPO and those three layers work
03:14in a progressive nature, kind of like the suspension on your dirt bike
03:18where the first two layers
03:22can compress and rebound and then the
03:26final layer, EPS, is kind of that big, you can think of it as like the big energy
03:30management material. That and the shell make it
03:34perform for mid and high level whereas the first two layers are softer
03:38make the helmet perform well in low to that mid range.
03:42Alright, so the pro circuit team here, they're all
03:46in, are they in a replica or are they actually painted up? So this weekend
03:50they were wearing a production graphic, it's the Hound orange graphic
03:54but we've modified it to show
03:58for their sponsor requirements with Monster.
04:02Alright, who's the pickiest guy with helmets of all the top
04:06elite guys? Like is there one guy that's like got some crazy
04:10requests or? Well the one guy that was tough was Jake
04:14Weimer. So he's retired now but he was tough, he
04:18was pretty picky about the fit of his helmet. Funny enough
04:22once we got him, or once we came out with Flex, he was good
04:26he was just like an out of the box extra small but prior to that we had to do
04:30some little like fit modifications to make his tiny head fit
04:34in his helmet. So what's the average size of a razor? Medium?
04:38Small? I would say medium or small, yeah if they're outside of that
04:42I'd say the big end is like Tyler Bowers
04:46who like measures out to be almost like 59 centimeters
04:50So he's a large? So he's a large, yeah. Wait I thought Martine wore an extra large
04:54Martine, no medium, out of the box medium, yeah. Dude
04:58in the past I've heard he wore a giant helmet. That might have been
05:02because of the other manufacturer of helmet he was wearing, you know their
05:06fit is different but ours I couldn't believe it, I was gearing up for
05:10like when he first came onto the team I went to the
05:14shop and went to fit him, had a bunch of pads, like some of the
05:18other tricks that we use to like fit people
05:22and I brought him a medium, a small, a large
05:26an extra large, like I had the whole thing. He puts on the medium and he goes
05:30yeah that's good. I was like you want to mess with cheek pads
05:34anything? He was good. Martine's very easy
05:38Do most guys change cheek pads and customize a bit?
05:42You know you'd be surprised how many guys are out of the box, like Eli, out of the box
05:46medium. Cooper, out of the box medium
05:50A lot of guys usually go up a size in cheek pad for
05:54conditions like mud or in
05:58outdoors, you know and that just helps hold the helmet up a little bit
06:02but you know little stuff like Dylan Perandez
06:06we use a little shim in the top of his helmet because
06:10of the shape of his head just to give him a really secure fit that he likes
06:14and then yeah it's pretty common, you know people go up and down
06:18in cheek pad size to kind of fit how they want
06:22I always encourage them to wear something that's on the snugger side
06:26How many helmets will a guy like Adam Cincerello
06:30go through in a year?
06:34He goes through a lot of visors, ask him about visors
06:38I told him to take them off of his practice helmets
06:42because he goes through so many, yeah
06:46He's going to be mad at me for that one
06:50A consumer might imagine, oh these pro guys are in a brand new
06:54helmet every single week, is that true or no? Not necessarily
06:58we do special stuff like San Diego round or this round
07:02try and work with the gear manufacturers or gear sponsors rather
07:06for each of our riders or teams to kind of give them an overall look
07:10that's really good, I'd say more often than not that's why we're replacing helmets
07:14but the roost is gnarly on these guys
07:18I'd say like an average 250 rider will go through
07:22probably like 4 or 5 helmets for super cross
07:26and then you know easily like 6
07:306 helmets of like no crashes or anything like that
07:34in outdoors
07:38AC, I heard you go through an extraordinarily
07:42large number of visors on your practice helmets
07:50Yeah I mean I do
07:54less lately for sure, less lately but what are you going to say, I try hard
07:58I told Nick this the other day when I came off the track
08:02I'm out here by myself and in my head I have Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart
08:06and everybody else that's ever ridden a motorcycle right on my ass
08:10I'm never the type to go through the motions and go out there
08:14because I can go do a million laps in a row in the same second at 80%
08:18but I'm trying to push it and figure out what's the limit, how fast can I come into this corner
08:22yeah sometimes I tuck the front, if you don't like it, send me more visors in advance
08:26Benny sucks, Benny Tazi sucks
08:30Hey did you know his real name is Raphael?
08:34He does kind of look like a Raphael
08:38Looks like he shops at Banana Republic
08:42Is that true?
08:46That looks like a safari jacket, no it's Bell dude
08:50Burberry jacket
08:54I saw a picture of you and RJ chatting it up in Phoenix
08:58Is there beef? No we're fine
09:02I kind of owe him one but the AMA talked to both of us
09:06and they were like no retaliation, no retaliation, I kind of got the short end of that stick
09:10because it's my turn to retaliate and now they're watching us close
09:14not like I'm a dirty guy anyway so it's fine, I've known RJ forever
09:18so I'm not one to hold grudges or whatever
09:22I'll take the faceplant in front of 60,000, I'll take it
09:26If it went to the ring, gloves, mouthpieces, who'd win?
09:30I'm not a fighter dude, you'd kick my ass
09:34100% let's see if I can get a beanbag gun or something
09:38Are you not a fighter because of all the emo music?
09:42You know what, it's probably that, a lot of Dance Dance by Fall Out Boy this week
09:46Yeah that's probably it
09:50So yes, two rounds down, how's it going?
09:54It's okay, not great results, 10th and 9th
09:58Obviously the first one was a mud race so it's kind of a wash
10:02Last weekend I feel like I did everything right all day long
10:06except for getting a good start in the main, I felt like I was on it in practice
10:10Heat race was good, battled with Malcolm there for a little bit
10:14and actually almost caught up to Marvin and almost won the thing
10:18Terrible terrible start in the main, it's hard to race through those guys
10:22Everyone's kind of going the same speed
10:26I was in a battle from 8th to 15th, all of us were kind of grouped together
10:30Came away with 9th, not stoked on that
10:34I've been searching for that comfort level when I'm out there racing
10:38and I haven't found it, when it's off-season races
10:42and even at 1, I didn't feel like, okay I belong here
10:46I deserve to be racing against these guys
10:50It's taken me a lot longer than I thought to get to that
10:54kind of fighting my own battles with that, but last weekend I was finally
10:58I got off the track and I was so happy, one of the most happy I've been in a long time
11:02We're the 9th too, but not because of the result, but because of the motions I had to go through
11:06and the small wins that I had during that race
11:10were awesome for me, so it was a huge confidence booster
11:14Thank you
