00:00Q2 I needed to find half a second and you know I didn't do anything obviously wrong I was just
00:05genuinely struggling and Q3 just just came alive and felt like I delivered two mostly good laps.
00:14You know I think if you put my sector three of lap two with my sector one and two of my first lap
00:22then it would be you know there's still quite a bit left on the table. So yeah the last lap I
00:29didn't have much to lose going to the hairpin and yeah really sent it for lack of a better word so
00:35yeah just very proud to have ended up on pole. I mean it felt as good almost as a pole position
00:41because it was really unexpected it all came together on that last lap it was a messy session
00:46nothing was working I was almost out in Q1 and it was just didn't have a good feeling and I threw
00:53everything I had at it and it just came together on the last lap and you know to be ahead of a
00:58McLaren when there was no sort of major mistakes from them is is pretty pretty big so please.
01:05Better result just still shows it's very close between everyone we still don't have the margin
01:10that we would we would love to have but a better job than we did yesterday for sure like I just
01:15felt a lot more comfortable out there not necessarily quicker than we were yesterday but
01:20just more comfy and that's a good start considering how much we or I have struggled so far this
01:26weekend so yeah all of that and a good job by Oskar. No real consistent grip out there
01:34and that makes it difficult to really get your references set but I felt good I mean I think
01:40the lap was nice but unfortunately it was not not quick enough. We made a couple of changes but
01:44nothing major and the car was really really hard to to drive it just didn't wasn't hugging the
01:50road I don't know if it got a bit more gusty and then the car was a bit harder. As a team I think
01:55we maximized the potential of the car but the most important thing is that we understand where
02:02have gone the potential of the car because from this morning or from sprint quali yesterday
02:07we were much faster compared to the others and I think yesterday maybe Lando would have been
02:13a step ahead if he had finished his lap but with other people we were more or less in line and
02:18today even though it's tight we seem to be a bit more on the back foot because
02:22I think both laps Luis's and mine wasn't wasn't that bad I mean it was pretty good so
02:28it's the way it is. Amazing yesterday already they were they were on it they gave me a really
02:33good car I made a mistake and today I didn't so finish the job it's a satisfying one yeah.
02:40I you know a bit disappointed from myself I think you know pace today was good for single lap
02:47it just was a bit messy especially with warm-up really hard to to find the right balance and
02:54trying to strike the best grip out of the tire so it was a bit messy because of that my quali
03:01and definitely you know some mistakes as well during the lap I think also the fact of going
03:05off in the last corner in q3 and not having the lap compromised a little bit the last run.
03:11Well first of all happy for the team that we are both cars in the in the in the mix and yeah for
03:17myself I just had a bit of a struggle in the qualifying in q3 I had a bit of mistake there so
03:24yeah apologies to the team but still I think I'll take it. I think we had the whole midfield
03:29spread by a tenth on our calculations and we knew q1 and q2 honestly it was almost the same
03:36qualifying session because the margins are so close that it whoever gets through you your chance
03:42to get through q1 is just as difficult as getting through into q3 kind of thing it's weird but
03:47yeah just very happy to execute the laps and and get clean laps on the board it's really tricky
03:51because the wind was gusting quite a lot during that session and it was easy to make mistakes and
03:56you had to kind of ignore them and make sure to finish the lap because there was always a
04:01corner on the track that you would make a mistake on so yeah anyway happy surprised by RB's
04:08pace I think they surprised us a little bit they seem to be really strong also in the race run so
04:13I'm not sure if they're beatable tomorrow. Probably changed three quarter of the car
04:18all in all yeah it was a huge turnaround from the team they did a really good job you know to
04:24improve the car from sprint race to where it is now so yeah very happy with that I think there
04:29is still some performance to be gained from this car so it's not you know a definite stop of where
04:35we are so that's very positive especially coming from Melbourne so yeah let's try and optimize
04:41tomorrow and we are close to the point so let's see what we can get from the race. It's just sector
04:45one unfortunately I had a snap in turn two which you know is a tricky corner it's so long and it
04:50just I don't know picked up a snap and you know that that cost yeah a tenth and a half I was down
04:56on myself to the previous run so you know in theory you know there was a bit more in it but
05:03I think for now you know I'll take it it felt it felt a bit better compared to what we've had so
05:09far this weekend so yeah we'll take it and work from here. I think it was fine the laps were good
05:14and nothing really more to come the outlaps were tricky we found ourselves always in the wrong spot
05:20probably cars behind us they were on a different philosophy of outlaps a little bit faster and we
05:24were always losing a couple of places and then opening the gap in the last two corners so
05:29yeah tricky there but same for everybody and I think some of the setup changes we did from this
05:35morning to now were intended to improve the front degradation tomorrow in qualifying
05:41obviously we could not see any advantage on the setup changes we made so hopefully
05:46tomorrow we have a better car. A couple tenths so here and there you know you always feel like
05:52it was kind of a tenth here that tenth there but it was a good effort. A bit of the same issue
05:56really when I whenever I got I began to push in quality just I don't seem to to find the pace
06:03can be quick in some corners but it looks like the third sector I was paying a lot the
06:08price today and then yeah we did some big changes in the setup to try and improve the car for
06:13tomorrow. Fundamentally we're lacking a bit of pace over one lap it was tricky it's extremely
06:19fine margins so within two tenths you get you know five six positions and that's that's the
06:26main thing yeah it wasn't wasn't the cleanest wasn't the cleanest last lap. I mean we planned
06:32three runs today and didn't quite make it out there for the last one you know it's tight to
06:38do to fit three runs in and of course have to be quick with all the turnarounds and everything
06:44no unfortunately I didn't cross the line for my final lap. It's never obviously a good feeling
06:48getting knocked out tricky situation to be honest at the end there was very tight on timing
06:54and whether I'm sure there's a combination of things that we could we can do but yeah starting
07:01the lap I was two seconds behind Liam so I think our you know estimated timing is supposed to be
07:06eight seconds for for optimal so I was a way too close but all in all I think maximized the lap.
07:12Got too much traffic in this last set of tires on the out lap so couldn't put the tires in
07:17temperature and you know before I started the lap Lewis overtook me so I thought that he was
07:23going to the pit so I allowed him to overtake but then he started the lap and you know I was too
07:28close I was a mess was a mess this last set of tires it's a shame because I really think we had
07:33the pace to go to q2 again but not all qualities go perfect. It's very very tough and yeah I can
07:41obviously I can get upset at the the traffic issues and things like that but it shouldn't
07:46be the difference between me getting through or not I have a whole lot of things to sort out
07:51myself before I can look at getting a little bit of traffic and things like that so it's just frustrating.
