00:00There's been a lot of feedback from Assassin's Creed Shadows recently.
00:03Coe Carnage released his very, very short thoughts on the game.

00:07Hi, everybody.
00:08Coe here with an early thoughts video on Assassin's Creed Shadows.
00:13I am not the biggest recent Assassin's Creed fan.
00:17I have not played the most recent iterations to completion.
00:21My last kind of big favorite Assassin's Creed was probably Black Flag,
00:25and I did really enjoy the first ones, especially the Desmond Nurse for the story.
00:28I know. Don't crucify me.
00:30But I with Assassin's Creed Shadows, you know, this this has been
00:33a relatively troubled project from a relatively troubled company.
00:36Let's be real. Ubisoft is very troubled.
00:40It's had a lot of multiple the way interesting stuff lately,
00:42and this particular project has had a lot of controversy around it.
00:45So I came into this with very low expectations as somebody
00:50who has kind of gotten tired of the general Assassin's Creed loop
00:53and and, you know, was not super engaged with it.
00:58I plan on giving it a stream,
00:59seeing how it was probably doing one reasonable and then just calling it.
01:03So now that I played it for a stream and I'm playing it for a second stream,
01:07I can say that Assassin's Creed Shadows is fine.
01:12It's fine if.
01:14Yeah, it's like a six to six or seven game.
01:18It's it's not like game of the year.

01:24Yeah, it's like Starfield.

01:49It's like basically it's in the same tier list as like Vale Guard

01:59You know, Assassin's Creed Shadows.

02:07That's another mid game. Yeah, I would say so.
02:10Yeah, these are all pretty much in the same category of games
02:14where they're all like relatively mediocre.
02:17But if you have time to kill and you have time to kill,
02:21but if you have time to kill and you want to play the game,
02:26it's not the worst game that's ever been made.
02:30That is that a good way to say it?
02:31Like that's the way I feel about a lot of these games is that
02:34and these are all like these triple A games that are made by Western studios.
02:39And what triple A Western games love to do is they love to do everything
02:43that doesn't matter perfectly, and they like to do everything
02:47that does matter wrong.
02:49Feels like Assassin's Creed.
02:51It's very, very pretty.
02:53It does have a bit more of kind of like a ninja angle to it.
02:57A little bit more kind of like Tenchu-y, Ghost of Tsushima-y.
03:00And that's been engaging.
03:01I also really like the setting.
03:02I'm a fan of Japanese games, so it's been again with the very nice graphics.
03:06That's been really pretty.
03:07Yeah, the progression system has been OK.
03:10It's very RPG-ified, like the more recent entries to Assassin's Creed.
03:13So it's very numbers based, very heavily level based with perks
03:17and things like that.
03:18It's been pretty fun to explore and seeing like what we can really do
03:21to become the ninja that they kind of sold this game with
03:24has also been pretty engaging.
03:26I don't want to be the ninja.
03:27I want to be the fucking tank.
03:30Like whenever, like...
03:32So I have the talent to where like if Yusuke runs into somebody,
03:36he deals damage to them.
03:38So I have him running around now
03:42where he can shoulder check the random NPCs like these random servant ladies.
03:46He just shoulder checks them and kills them.
03:52So stupid.
03:55Also, there is this kind of weird...
03:56Yes.
03:57Not really weird, but this kind of base building mechanic
04:00where you actually get to place buildings and stuff,
04:02which is far more in-depth than I was expecting.
04:04So kind of exploring that system is something I want to do before we're done.
04:08But to kind of get to the end of it, like...
04:12It overall, it feels just like another entry.
04:15Like this is not a black flag.
04:17This is not a revival of any kind.
04:19It feels like another entry.
04:21Business as usual.
04:23I'm not one of the people that's kind of like hugely into the controversy
04:27about this game.
04:28I mean, let's be real.
04:29The Assassin's Creed franchise has visited lots of historical locations
04:32over its, what, 14 games?
04:35It did, but it didn't do it at the same time
04:38that they were patronizing and virtue signaling to their audience.
04:41That's the difference.
04:42That's the reason why people are mad about this one,
04:43particularly, and not the other ones,
04:45is that the other ones, everybody knew it was bullshit
04:48and they never tried to hang on to it.
04:50But, oh, but this is what history says.
04:53That's the difference, why people are mad.
04:55Which, by the way, I was right about when I said that.
04:58Remember whenever I said that Yasuke would not even be in the top
05:0110 problems this game has whenever the game comes out?

05:06I think it's a little weird that all of a sudden
05:07everyone's like super concerned about historical accuracy with this one.
05:11It's because they feel like they're being patronized.
05:13That's the reason why.
05:15Granted, Ubisoft may have kind of shot themselves in the foot
05:17by publicly saying that they were going to try to be a bit more accurate.
05:20Exactly. Yeah, that's the reason.

05:23You know, that's on them.
05:24But I will say that, like, that's not something that ever bothers me
05:27because that's kind of something they've always done.
05:29So, yeah, maybe outside of some of the other decisions.
05:32But, yeah.
05:33Anyway, now that we're at the end of this early thoughts video,
05:36that's kind of where we are.
05:37I don't really plan on finishing the game.
05:39I mean, I might, but it's the kind of thing where I'm kind of just playing this
05:42now because there's not really any other big games I'm playing currently.
05:45And it's just fun enough to kind of keep me wanting to explore
05:48the mechanics and everything.
05:49Yeah. But that's kind of where we are.

06:00we have, see if it's your speed, see if it's what you're looking for.

10:02When Rise of the Ronin came out, I was I played Rise of the Ronin for a stream.

15:31So you want to know what happens is that the games like Assassin's
15:35Creed, for example, are now.

15:41Do you think that there would be more resources of like the coal
15:44and, you know, wood out in the open world if you couldn't buy them on the store?
15:49Because the answer to that, to me, is an obvious yes.
15:52I think that there are they are they are more scarce.
15:56That way you have to buy them on the store or you want to buy them on the store.
16:02And so they would make it more scarce, so that way they get more people to buy.

23:45The short answer is because they can. Ubisoft likes to squeeze.

23:59you can even buy levels in other games.
