EP 20. URAH QURAYSH ( 106 ) CUSTODIANS OF THE KA'BA

00:00The Arabs were divided into many tribes.

00:05The tribe was like a big family.

00:08Every tribe was proud of their strength and wealth.

00:12Some of them were warriors, some were merchants, and some were herdsmen.

00:17Quraish, which was the tribe of Prophet Muhammad,

00:22was the most powerful tribe of Mecca.

00:25Allah had given him special blessings.

00:28In this surah, Allah reminds Quraish of these special blessings.

00:58Allah had given them a special status.

01:01They were the protectors of the Ka'bah,

01:04which was the center of Hajj for all the tribes of Arabia.

01:08No tribe would attack Mecca because of the Ka'bah.

01:12That's why it was always safe.

01:15This protected the Quraish and the people of Mecca from being attacked.

01:30The Quraish took advantage of their special status

01:33and prepared two important trade routes in Arabia.

01:36In the winters, they went south to Yemen

01:39and in the summers, they went north to Syria for trade.

01:44Allah gave them special help in the face of great danger.

01:49In the year of the Elephants, a powerful army attacked Mecca

01:53and they wanted to destroy the Ka'bah.

01:56But Allah sent special birds,

01:59which rained hard stones and destroyed the army.

02:04Despite all the blessings of Allah,

02:07the Quraish refused to believe in Muhammad.

02:13They also tortured the weak Muslims.

02:17The message of this Surah is for the Quraish,

02:20but also for the whole of humanity,

02:23that Allah's special blessings are upon us.

02:26We should take advantage of these blessings.

02:29We should be thankful for the blessings of peace,

02:33prosperity and the love of our family.
