00:00The first of the face inspection for us, the commissioner, Nicholas Elwood.
00:11So as you can see behind me, Bec d'Eros is not in really good conditions.
00:16Not much snow, all winter and loads of wind.
00:19We are considering doing a food event on the Petit Bec and from the middle of the big Bec
00:26d'Eros and see how it is without putting any track now.
00:30There's new snow.
00:31It would be a shame to just destroy the face so far.
00:35So let's see later.
00:37Here as well in Verbier, we've got our stairway to heaven.
00:57Looking at the venue today, there is no way we want to put any track.
01:01There's about 10cm of new snow, very fresh, very light.
01:05Anything we're going to do is going to trigger a lot of slough.
01:08So the idea now is to go on a venue which we used for the Junior World Championship
01:12a few years back and it's exactly the same orientation, same sort of steepness, same
01:19amount of rocks around so we'll know if it's getting sugary or not and that will give us
01:23the essential insight on the snow condition on the Bec d'Eros.
01:27So then we'll be able to take a decision on is the conditions or are the conditions good
01:31enough or not.
01:39Here we are, Montion, you can see behind me, this is Bec d'Eros over there and we are pretty
01:49much same altitude or what we can see so far is like this 10cm of very, very fresh
01:57snow that fell two days ago and we're just going as a slough, super quick and everywhere
02:04so it's going to be complicated.
02:19So day two of preparation, we're at the back of the Bec, this is the source phase and Claude-Alain,
02:38Sylvain, Bertie and I are going to check where we're going to put the start and starting
02:44also the boot pack for the riders to climb up.
02:49Right now we are in a little tricky place so thanks to the ice axe we'll be doing some
03:10steps for the riders so then they'll have an easier way up.
03:17After checking the snow conditions yesterday on different venues, exactly the same aspect
03:23as on the Bec d'Eros, we're here halfway through the venue, behind me you can see the Xavier
03:31de la Rue cliff and a little bit further it's the Hollywood and the Voile cliff.
03:37At the moment as you can see it's full of rocks and there's absolutely no way we can
03:41start from the really top of the Bec d'Eros.
03:44So the options are Petit Bec, Start 1 and 2, the traditional ones and we're going to
03:49put the Start 3 just above the Hollywood cliff which will give exactly the same amount of
03:55features that if you start from Start 1 and 2 and also it will be the same hike for the
04:01riders to go up to Start 1 and 2 or Start 3.
04:06Ok so here we are at Start 2, we are just preparing the flat to receive the start gate.
04:14Oh putain!
04:33Boot pack done, starting gates, all the anchors have been already set so let's get a few turns now.
