00:00The strikes come as Washington really ramps up sanctions pressure on Iran.
00:05Are these latest strikes on the Houthis America's way of pressuring Iran into these nuclear discussions?
00:13I've been watching the attacks on the Houthis for quite some time and I think
00:17originally US military presence there was also a coalition of the willing
00:22of some British warships out there and the like and all of that was originally designed
00:28to deter the Houthis because quite frankly the Houthis have no military capability to match that
00:34or the US or any of the western powers but that deterrence value didn't work. The next phase
00:40is degrade and that's been the strategy of the west is trying to degrade the Houthis because
00:45the next stage up from that would be destroyed and the bluntly the only way you're going to be
00:49able to destroy the Houthis is a ground invasion and there's been no appetite whatsoever from the
00:54west to do that. Quite frankly Saudi Arabia is trying to get some sort of truce with the Houthis
01:01trying to build a bit of stability and I suspect at the moment everybody's just saying I'm trying
01:05to play this slightly long because if it's all linked to Hamas and Gaza ultimately you want that
01:12ceasefire to prevail and you don't want to see things escalating elsewhere so I think what we're
01:17seeing is President Trump's new administration big stick we're serious about this and multiple
01:23strikes and show the Houthis if they do try to intimidate shipping they're going to get a bloody
01:29nose or worse there's going to be some mass casualties and a major dent from a major superpower.
