00:00Let's get you the latest updates coming in on the Nagpur riots.
00:09Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has confirmed that it was rumour mongering that led to this
00:15attack, that led to the violence.
00:17Chief Minister Fadnavis has said that it was a rumour on, in fact, the Tum Chadar that
00:23sparked riots.
00:25And he's also detailed exactly what happened.
00:27And speaking in the Maharashtra Assembly, Fadnavis says that this was a mob consisting
00:31of 80 to 100 people who went on a rampage.
00:34They were armed and therefore confirming that this mob was, in fact, carrying swords, carrying
00:41sticks and went on this vandalising spree.
00:45Now let's get you exactly what Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said when he's also
00:49confirmed that cops were attacked.
00:51One cop was even attacked with an axe by this mob.
00:57A rumour was spread that in the morning riots, the protestors were wearing religious
01:08attire.
01:09In Attarol, 200-250 people gathered to pray, got ready and started chanting.
01:17These people started saying, let's set fire to it, so the police used firecrackers there.
01:56So, there is definitely a pattern of some people.
02:03We can see that.
02:05Such people will definitely be investigated.
02:09Under any circumstances, no one will be allowed to take up the law and order.
02:15And I'm going to make one thing clear.
02:18Those who have attacked the police will not be spared.
02:24Let's cut across live now to AIMIM Chief Azaduddin Owaisi speaking on these riots.
02:29We will get you that reaction once again as to what Owaisi has to say about what's happened
02:41in Nagpur and the allegation from the government that this was actually a pre-planned conspiracy.
02:48Let me bring in Mustafa Sheikh, who's joining us live from Nagpur with the latest updates.
02:52Mustafa, shocking details really that the Chief Minister has given out about how really
02:57these riots broke out, that the mob was armed, they had swords, they had sticks and one cop,
03:03a senior cop was even targeted with an axe by this mob.
03:11Well, yes, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, has made a speech on the
03:17floor of the house very responsibly.
03:19He has actually narrated and simplified the entire incident which has taken place, which
03:23goes on to say that it was about Aurangzeb's storm, the protest by Bajrang Dal.
03:29Then a rumour starting saying that they tried to burn a certain thing on which something
03:36was written in Arabic and it was considered to be a religious text due to which people
03:41had taken offence.
03:42They had met Nagpur commissioner.
03:44A fire had also been registered.
03:46Now, this was in the afternoon yesterday.
03:49But after the evening, late evening, violent protests started.
03:54People started gathering.
03:56They had covered their faces.
03:58Partially they were having weapons and they went on to destroy, went on a rampage.
04:04Even more so that they didn't even stop at senior police officers intervening.
04:09There are two DCPs of Nagpur city which are hospitalised at this point and one of them
04:15has a deep cut on his hand which he suffered with an axe.
04:19So clearly, whether these were protesters, but they more acted like rioters and more
04:25so like hardened criminals.
04:28Devendra Fadnavis went on to say that there are 10 police stations in which there is a
04:33situation of curfew like situation in Nagpur at this point where the shops and other things
04:38have been closed.
04:40He also went on to say that there have been a recent release of a movie based on the sacrifice
04:46given by Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj due to which the sentiments of these citizens
04:52of Maharashtra is running high.
04:54But because there are ongoing festivals of different communities, people will have to
04:58be patient, understand each other's sentiments and behave accordingly.
05:02But the onus is also going to be on the administration to ensure that even if you've got people's
05:08sentiments running high, they need to kind of keep the situation under control.
05:13And Chief Minister Fadnavis therefore is suggesting that all of this was pre-planned.
