00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03An investigation into a Derbyshire house fire at the weekend has concluded that the blaze probably started accidentally due to a mobile phone which had become damaged or overheated.
00:14Firefighters from Alfredton as well as Nottinghamshire's Eastwood station were called to the house on Flamstead Avenue in Losco on Sunday afternoon.
00:22Fire crews were met with a fire which had started in the living room area of the property.
00:27Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property rescuing two dogs and providing trauma care at the scene.
00:33Sadly however one dog was later confirmed to have died.
00:37Fire investigator watch manager Steve Eaton said
00:40This was a significant fire which caused extensive damage to the property and shows how devastating fires involving lithium batteries like those in mobile phones can be.
00:49These batteries are safe during normal use but present a fire risk when overcharged, short-circuited, submerged in water or damaged.
00:57I would therefore advise everyone to be aware of the potential fire risks associated and to follow our advice to ensure that using products containing lithium batteries is done so safely.
