00:00Yankees new projected lineup, you know, certainly it looks different.
00:05It feels, George, every year like there's a couple of vets that are back with the Yankees
00:10that they're trying to fix or make into some sort of project.
00:14This year, not really that much.
00:16Maybe Goldschmidt there batting fourth would be that one player, although Goldschmidt is
00:20a former MVP and so is Cody Bellinger there.
00:23So you got Wells, Judge Bellinger, Goldschmidt, Chisholm, Volpe, Jason Dominguez is the one
00:29to circle.
00:30He's a big question.
00:31Ben Rice had that incredible start to his career and then as Waldo Cabrera will round
00:36it out.
00:37Yeah.
00:38I mean, look, there's a little bit of a hole there without Stanton.
00:39I think people make too much of that, by the way, there's just a lot of time through the
00:43years.
00:44It's like to simply say he's going to play even 100 games at this point is silly and
00:48foolish, but he's not there.
00:50George, the question is going to be behind Aaron Judge, those two guys.
00:53I think I know who Jazz is at this point.
00:55I've seen him play for a number of years is going to hit 20, steal 20.
00:59Volpe, I feel pretty good about between Dominguez and Rice.
01:02One of them will be good.
01:03The other one probably not as good, but what is going to happen with three and four with
01:07Bellinger and Goldschmidt?
01:09That's the real question for the Yankees because they acquired them to perform.
01:14That's absolutely the question here, right?
01:17I mean, you look at it.
01:18The Yankees have really two ways to go here.
01:20First of the veterans, you mentioned Bellinger and Goldschmidt here.
01:22Now Goldschmidt was terrible last year, but did have some little comeback, maybe the last
01:27quarter.
01:28He's what, 37?
01:30So what's the truth here?
01:31The first three quarters of the season, just a bad year or is it the last quarter where
01:35he figured it out and now he's back to being Goldschmidt here or at least a facsimile of
01:39Goldschmidt.
01:40He's having a decent spring, hitting some bombs here, but he's also striking out a bunch.
01:44So I think that's what you're going to get.
01:45He's going to hit some home runs here, do some damage here, but he's also not going
01:48to be the guy.
01:49He's not going to be that MVP guy anymore.
01:50Bellinger, I think he'll be just fine, assuming he stays healthy.
01:53Hitting behind Judge, Yankee Stadium.
01:56I think he'll have a good, solid year here.
01:59So I'm not really as worried about Bellinger here.
02:01And then you have all the young players, Auston Wells, Volpe, Dominguez, Rice.
02:06I'm not really putting Cabrera in this category because it's sort of ridiculous that he's
02:10a starting third baseman.
02:11He's a super utility guy.
02:12So like Isaac Aina-Felipe from a couple of years ago, who the Yankees miscarried, says
02:16that everyday shortstop.
02:17Now they're doing the same thing with Cabrera, that he should, whatever.
02:21They don't have a third baseman.
02:22That's not a joke when I tell you they don't have that.
02:24He's also going to split tie with Peraza, by the way.
02:26Cabrera will play against righties, and Peraza against lefties.
02:29That's what the Yankees are going to do there.
02:31And Ben Rice, by the way, is not going to be a starting DH either.
02:33That's going to be a mix of Rice, Dominic Smith.
02:37And they're searching for a right-handed bat big time to fill in that role as well there.
02:42But the Yankees are going to hope that Wells, Volpe, and Dominguez could all take that next
02:46step.
02:47It's a big gamble putting Wells at the lead opposition.
02:49He's going to get on base enough here.
02:50He's got the power.
02:52If he plays 120 games, he's going to hit 25, 30 home runs.
02:55He's got that kind of power.
02:56Volpe needs to hit.
02:57And he really hasn't done that yet.
02:59Nowhere near consistently.
03:01And then, of course, Dominguez, the Martian, who was supposed to be the next big thing
03:04here.
03:05Once again, I think he'll hit.
03:06I think that's the issue here.
03:08His defense is interesting.
03:11And I think the Yankees have screwed up because he's a center fielder.
03:15And they're pushing him towards left field, which he's struggling in.
03:17Bellinger can play left, and it's not like he's Paul Blair in center field here.
03:22So Bellinger in left, where he can play, Dominguez is more comfortable in center and let Dominguez
03:25worry about his bat.
03:26I think the Yankees would be a better team that way, but they don't want to do that.
03:29They keep, like I said, forcing sort of a square, you know, that round hole, square
03:33peg thing here with Dominguez in left here.
03:36Right now, it's not working all that well.
