00:00How about Charlie Hoffman going 7-under today, starting his round with an eagle on two.
00:06He had a hell of a round. And then Morikawa also a 7-under today. And I wanted to look at his
00:14card. It was just tons of birdies, no eagles, but 7-under. And he's up there at 9-under,
00:19so he is in the thick of it with the leaders, two of them tied, Wu Li and Batia at 11-under.
00:27What do you think of those two guys having 7-unders today? Those are crazy scores.
00:33No, incredible, really. But as I look at the leaderboard, for me, it starts at 9-under with
00:39Rory and Morikawa. I mean, great credit to Li and Batia for being up there and even JJ Spahn.
00:48Those are good. That's good stuff. But let's face it, as we get going on here,
00:52the cream's going to rise to the top. And I really believe that's where things are going
00:56to go. There's a lot more experience tied up with those guys. And this tends to be a trend at TPC.
01:03You see a lot of names you're not familiar with in the beginning, and then not many of them are
01:09able to hang on. I hope in this case they are, because a couple of them are caddies,
01:14are playing in my caddy day on Monday. So I hope that their guys get it done.
01:19Rory with six birdies today, a couple of bogeys. But you like his chances on the weekend because
01:25he's so clutch in these big moments. Yeah, his iron game, I think he's tweaking with the driver
01:32right now. And I told people a couple of weeks ago, I go, Rory, honestly, he doesn't really
01:36care about Bay Hill. He doesn't really care about this week. He's focused on one thing,
01:40and that's Augusta. He wants to be that sixth guy to win the Grand Slam. So he's tweaking his
01:46equipment, getting it set up. And in the process, he's such a great player. He can go out and do
01:52the stuff he did yesterday. He hit it all over the lot and shot 67. Today, he hit it much better
01:58and had a lot more easier birdie putts. And there you have it. He's sitting right there at nine
02:02under. When you see a guy like Joe LaCava, who I know and I partied with back in the day,
02:07that his son became a caddy, and then his son got his first bag win. Do you know stories of this,
02:16like guys with their kids carrying the bag after they've had a long career like Joe did?
02:22I mean, honestly, generation-wise, there's been a couple out there, but not like this. I mean,
02:28I've been buddies with Joe. We started together back in the late 80s, and I've actually stayed
02:32at his house and been there when little Joe Jr., or Joe the Fourth, I should say, was just a half
02:39pint. And then through high school and playing quarterback and going to college. So yeah,
02:44big thrill for Joe, and that's awesome for the LaCava family. They're great people,
02:49I couldn't be happier for them.
