00:00Stage 4 of the Tirrano Adriatico, and another long day with variable weather conditions.
00:11190km in total to Strassasacco.
00:17Well elevation gains almost at their very highest, nothing easy in this race and they
00:21were claiming straight out of the door.
00:25Napstun's Trident has never been more hard fought than this year.
00:29So many names still in the frame and quite frankly we just did not know who would thrive
00:34on the day.
00:35Battles for each of the jerseys potentially and we were under way.
00:39Once the flag dropped, how long before we got ourselves a breakaway, there was a lot
00:43of probing at the very beginning of the stage and in fact it took a while for anything to
00:48settle down.
00:50Once the flag had dropped it got busy.
00:55Supposed to be a much higher pace on the day in fact than on stage 3 and in fact the
01:01conundrum of how to take it on was there for all to see.
01:05Bursting for the horizon was Terozzi.
01:08He went for it, took a compatriot along with him from Bardiani.
01:14There were several incarnations of the break but crucially Terozzi got up to take some
01:19KOM points along the way.
01:22The mountains tests were one thing but so was the loop circuit at the end of the day
01:27that indeed would be the character.
01:29Hold on to the bars for goodness sake, don't throw it away early.
01:33Maestri having a wobble, Arcas was up there for Movistar, Picknick with Leimreitzer, Livi
01:38was there for UNO-X and Rush from Intermarche Wantte.
01:42It looked like it might be their day.
01:44The cold starting to have an impact on everyone behind them.
01:48The struggle was for everybody.
01:51So with all of the points being taken on the King of the Mountains by those up the
01:55road at this point and in fact the intermediate sprint that would offer itself up very late
02:00before a dive down into town, the chase was on, had been instilled, big gaps there certainly
02:05were and the driving force was Ineos Grenadiers and Filip Ogana who had called for pace.
02:11Well the intermediate sprint, all the points and bonus seconds were indeed accounted for
02:15but you couldn't account for the battles that were raging behind those up front.
02:20Breakaway still had ideas of glory, Ghana had other ideas, putting the hurt on those
02:26behind and the gaps were starting to open up and become vicious and many a fast man
02:31was in trouble.
02:32Let's share the duty said Rush and in fact they were indeed doing precisely that.
02:39The margins kept coming down and then being re-expanded.
02:42It was tough terrain, especially when we got to our circuit but everyone else was peddled
02:47to the metal and hoping to go indeed quickly.
02:50Going down fast I'm afraid was Rush who took himself a tumble and so then there were four.
02:55Temptation certainly for those out front, Landru had had a puncture, had to wrestle
03:00his way back in.
03:01Others indeed also had their problems such as Milan still recovering from his crash the
03:06day prior.
03:07They were taking the corners very, very gingerly.
03:09Well with 10km to go, these were the hounds out front and chased into that gap went
03:18Van der Poel.
03:19Brilliant work.
03:20Who would be tempted to go with him?
03:21There were various indeed formations of those with some ambition.
03:26Healy once again was very much a defining force, bridging over to two remaining from
03:31the break but ultimately it came down to a sprint and coming out of nowhere Olaf Koei.
03:36Well he wore a black cape for much of the day but delivered a fine victory, super work
03:42by him.
03:43On a day when many of the fast men found themselves hampered by appalling conditions once again.
03:49Great racing, truly so, finishing in front of Ploemus and Van der Poel in the frame.
03:54Staying in the lead overall, Pippo Garna with that margin of 22 seconds still intact.
03:59He says he's worried about the days still to come in this race.
04:03Ayuzo still looks like our favourite for the race, leading the young riders classification
04:07at the moment by a margin of 7 seconds.
04:10And all credit as well to our king of the mountain, Terrozzi, picking up two more points
04:15to extend his lead in that competition over Bahis.
04:19What an amazing race and even in times of tribulation Milan still leads the points.
04:25He's in Ciclimino ahead of Koei on 26 points versus 19.
