00:00Time trial day to open up the 60th Tirreno Adriatico, just 11.5km in total, out from

00:14and of course back within Lido di Camiore.

00:18A short course, not exactly technical it has to be said, very few corners, unlike previous

00:23years but with some chicanes and a hairpin to deal with and a 90 degree turn straight

00:28off the start ramp.

00:31No altitude to speak of so no mountains jersey but a blue overall jersey of course up for

00:36grabs and some great contenders and spectacular time trialists very much on hand.

00:42Well a mixture of youth and experience and some of those that went off like Piganzoli

00:47were doing great jobs but it was Price Pedersen that set the benchmark early on and in fact

00:52it looked like it might stay for quite some time.

00:55Varun Scholt one of those that just eased off towards the end knowing that victory was

00:59out of his grasp and then of course the big hitters started to arrive.

01:04Milan setting a great time, Grosshartner showing the big heart that he has and plenty of others

01:09as well wanting to impose themselves on a very difficult course, Tiberi look to be absolutely

01:15on fire out there, everyone else just waiting for their moment.

01:20Well the rollers were busy today, Tiberi coming across the line just out of the win, at least

01:26at that point anyway, just off the top of the podium by a second only.

01:31In fact only ten seconds would blanket the top nine by the end of the day save for the

01:37two who are out front but who would they be?

01:39Adam Yates was busy and engaged with bragging rights even within his own family I think

01:44with Simon Active on the day and looking good and others looking bruised.

01:49Yes of course Stradivianchi had its costs out there, it was a question though to refocus

01:55the mind and indeed go for it.

01:57Two out-and-out favourites were on display on this day, Juan Ayuso of course who had

02:03beaten Pipo Gana in the past, who else could possibly get themselves in the mix?

02:08Catania was one of those out there but when Gana started would he finish the job?

02:13Ayuso looked imperious, Milan was looking impressive out there but Ayuso had the better

02:19of him but look at the green of the clock, as Ayuso finished, would that be enough?

02:25Could he possibly yet again beat Gana?

02:33An enormous advantage for Filippo Gana, a man in control of his destiny almost constantly

02:40it seems, whether it be on the track or on the road, he is in charge and so it proved

02:46to be today.

02:47Not only taking the day but also the coveted leaders jersey for Tereno Adriatico, the times

02:53from the time trial standing in the overall and also leads our points classification.

03:00Gana with victory in the blue and he may well carry it for quite a few days, Ayuso nearest

03:07to him at a 23 second margin was a country mile.

03:14Ayuso the man in the white leaders jersey but the ciclamino also owned of course by Gana.

03:22So leading the points, no mountains jersey awarded on this time trial day, of course

03:29the high ground is still to come, Ayuso is in charge as far as the youngsters are concerned

03:35With an awful lot of racing to go, Ayuso looks very imperious, possibly up for the title overall.

03:45We race on with Gana as our leader, gloriously so.
