00:00Some lawmakers defended Malacanang against critics saying they are behind the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

00:08According to House Assistant Majority Leader Jill Bongalon, who's also a lawyer,

00:13the government was merely enforcing the arrest warrant which went through the proper legal process.

00:18House Deputy Majority Leader Paulo Ortega and House Assistant Majority Leader Jude Asidre also agreed with this.

00:25The Marcos administration did not file the case against the ICC, it was the victims themselves.

00:30The Marcos administration did not say to hurry up. They are the ones who are in a hurry, right?

00:37It's unfair to accuse it to the present administration or to the Marcos administration.

00:44They are not the ones who are responsible for this. It was the ICC who issued the warrant of arrest.

00:49And this administration only implemented and effected the warrant of arrest.

00:55The lawmakers emphasized that instead of focusing on politics or other issues,

01:00attention should be paid to the victims of alleged extrajudicial killings during the previous administration.

01:06They pointed out that these victims have been fighting for justice for years,

01:10and now that it is within reach, their quest should not be denied or deprived.

01:14This is a story of justice. This is a story of justice, what is happening now.

01:20But this story is not yet over.

01:24And the only certainty is that justice has not fallen asleep, and God has not fallen asleep.

01:36Senate President Francis Escudero earlier urged the public to remain calm amid the issue and to respect the proceedings.

01:43He also called on those running in the midterm elections to refrain from using this issue to fan the flames of partisanship.

01:49House Solons, for their part, could not agree more.

01:52To be honest, during these times, we should start healing, especially the AJK victims.

02:00I think we owe it to them to make sure that healing starts.

02:05But that healing will come only through one thing, through justice.

02:09Meanwhile, in a statement, the office of Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldico denied claims

02:14he owns the aircraft used to transport former President Rodrigo Duterte to the Netherlands.

02:19Meanwhile, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco confirmed that Davos City Representative Paulo Duterte

02:25had requested for travel cliquets to visit the Netherlands and Japan, which was approved.
