00:00The Philippines and Slovenia agreed to strengthen cooperation in different sectors,

00:05particularly in trade and investment.

00:07Slovenia's target is to hire more Filipino workers.

00:19Expect stronger cooperation between the Philippines and Slovenia,

00:22particularly in the sector of trade and investment.

00:25Following the bilateral meeting of Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo

00:29and Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon,

00:32which is part of her three-day official visit to the Philippines,

00:35the two countries agreed to strengthen other sectoral areas

00:39such as space, science and technology application, nuclear energy,

00:44maritime education, training, sports, and labor.

00:47Yesterday, the Slovenian Government and Department of Migrant Workers

00:51of a Memorandum of Understanding

00:54that there will be no fair and transparent employment opportunities

00:57for Filipinos in Slovenia.

01:00According to the latest data of the Department of Foreign Affairs,

01:02there are about 400 Filipinos in Slovenia

01:06who mostly work as clerical support workers,

01:09service and sales workers, technicians, and associate professionals.

01:13Meanwhile, Slovenia supports the Philippines in talking about the West Philippine Sea.

01:18I would like to express, as the Secretary mentioned,

01:22our full solidarity with Philippines

01:24over the continuing incidents in the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone.

01:30Dangerous maneuvers in this maritime area,

01:34which we have witnessed in recent years,

01:37are disturbing and run contrary to UNCLOS.

01:41For Slovenia's respect of international law,

01:44including UNCLOS as well for the international arbiter of wars,

01:49is of paramount importance.

01:52I thank the Foreign Minister for expressing solidarity with the Philippines

01:56when it comes to the security and the observance of international law

02:00in the South China Sea,

02:03with the Minister pointing out Slovenia's commitment

02:06to international law, particularly UNCLOS.

02:11The Philippines is fully committed to defending its sovereignty,

02:14sovereign rights, and jurisdiction in the South China Sea,

02:18but at the same time engaging China in dialogue and diplomacy.

02:23The opening of the embassy of Slovenia here in the Philippines

02:27was the country's first diplomatic mission in the ASEAN region.

02:30The opening of the embassy here in Manila

02:34do indicate that the prospects for greater cooperation

02:37between the Philippines and Slovenia are very bright,

02:41and not only in terms of our bilateral cooperation,

02:44but also on regional and international issues.
