00:18In order to protect the rights, welfare and livelihood of Filipino seafarers,

00:24President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is urging the government agencies to implement the rules and regulations of the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers.

00:34This is to protect the rights of Filipino seafarers to the proper information regarding their work.

00:39This is to provide protection against abuse and discrimination.

00:44This is to establish a clear contract for their work,

00:47including a fair salary, time to rest and benefits.

00:52The law includes medical attention and sick leave in case of illness while traveling or being quarantined.

01:00To our sailors, wherever you go in the world, you continue to give pride to our country

01:09because of your hard work, diligence and steadfastness.

01:14Therefore, in every journey of yours, we are behind you, serving you so that your security, dignity and rights will be more secure.

01:29Aside from that, the marines are instructed to be a member of the SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-ibig

01:36so that they can have insurance, housing and retirement benefits.

01:41The marines will also be given access to counseling, financial assistance, legal assistance and other supports.

01:50At the same time, they will also receive quality training that will help them advance in the career of seafarers,

01:57not only for the men but also for the women.

02:02This is not only an opportunity for the industry to open up,

02:07but also a sign of our dedication to a more progressive and fairer approach to the maritime industry.

02:18The government will establish a one-stop-shop for seafarers who meet their needs.

02:25President Marcos ordered the government agencies to ensure its implementation.

02:32This is just the beginning of a more stable and brighter future for our Filipino marines and their families.

02:42Together, let us build a new Philippines where every worker, including our marines,

02:50will have a secure and reliable future.
