00:00A group is pushing for the Zero Billing Program of the Health Department to become a law

00:05so that more Filipinos can be helped.

00:08This is Bian Manalo's report.

00:12Role Fausto has been a taxi driver for more than 20 years.

00:16This was his way to meet the needs of his family and to educate his children.

00:23But just last month, he was hospitalized due to over fatigue

00:27or too much fatigue due to excessive weight.

00:31I just felt that my body was weak.

00:34I just felt sleepy so I went to sleep.

00:37That's all we do.

00:39But he is very thankful because he was not paid

00:42for his stay in the hospital for two days

00:46because of the Zero Billing Program of the government.

00:49It's a big thing for our country.

00:52No one, no one can help us.

00:56A group is pushing for the Zero Billing Program of the health department

01:01to become a law so that more Filipinos can be helped.

01:05The low-income individuals in government hospitals are the priority of the program.

01:09Under that, there is the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients

01:15or MAIFIV Program of the Department of Health.

01:18If the Zero Billing Program becomes a law,

01:21the professional fee of the doctor will not be included in the patient's payment.

01:25Aside from the hospital bills,

01:27medical services such as chemotherapy, dialysis, dental services, and laboratory procedures will also be paid.

01:36This is a good way so that our countrymen will not have a hard time

01:44when they need enough medicine but don't have enough money.

01:47The problem is in the hands of our countrymen.

01:51The Zero Billing Program is just one of the initiatives of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

01:58in promoting and strengthening the healthcare system of the Philippines.

02:02In fact, along with his day last year,

02:06President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the health department

02:11to fund all inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services in 22 public hospitals across the country.

02:19More than Php 300 million was allocated for this.

02:23We are asking for a reduction in the cost of medicine.

02:29Second, all hospitals should be free so that we can implement what we call Zero Billing.

02:37We should not neglect our poor countrymen who need the support of their relatives.

02:45Aside from this, the group is also supporting the bill to remove the value-added tax on all medicines

02:53which is a huge reduction in the cost of our countrymen.
