00:00Thank you very much, Mr. Speaker. I thank the gentleman for yielding and for his extraordinary
00:03leadership. Mr. Speaker, today Republicans will vote to pass a continuing resolution
00:10that hallows out our nation's commitment to the health, education, economic security
00:15of America's working families. Instead of working constructively in a bipartisan way
00:22to meet the needs of the American people, Republicans are trying to starve the domestic
00:26budget with a partisan bill, and I'm going to focus on veterans here, that cuts nearly
00:32$23 billion in veterans' benefits in addition to slashing even more money from health care
00:40and affordable housing. Indeed, the Republican CR is a betrayal of our nation, America's
00:46veterans, with devastating cuts to initiatives that care for our veterans exposed to burn pits,
00:54Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. Our nation's sacred promise is just as the military
01:03says, on the battlefield we leave no soldier behind, and when they come home, we leave no
01:11veteran behind. With this bill, Republicans have broken that promise. I urge my colleagues to be
01:18no on this betrayal of our veterans and urge my colleagues, Republican colleagues, to join
01:23Democrats at the negotiating table to get us serious about the people's business. Vote no.
01:30I yield back. Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
