Reg Hambly on 3-2 win at Launceston.
Transcript
00:00OK, so we're here with Reg Hamley after Camelford's 3-2 victory at Launceston this afternoon.
00:08Reg, you must have been delighted with the comeback.
00:11Yes, obviously, David, any sort of level of football, if you're 2-0 down and you come back to win 3-2,
00:16it's got to be, obviously, it's a great feeling, great sensation and really satisfying.
00:21And, you know, give Launceston credit, they played well and they were 2-0 up
00:27and they probably just about deserved a 2-0 lead.
00:30But I thought we had some lively lads on the bench.
00:35I knew that before we started.
00:36And I think the fresh legs just gave us that bit of impetus.
00:38Once Gussie got the first goal, then, you know,
00:43I felt that we had the chance of getting back into the game and so it proved.
00:48In the first half, you didn't quite hit the straps after the last two weeks.
00:54What did you put that down to? Or is it a case of sort of...
00:58No, I think, you know, give Launceston their credit.
01:01We had a couple of good wins at home, you know, against Bournemouth and Sunday.
01:05And we scored goals and we looked very tight at the back.
01:07But I think Launceston, you know, they put on a little bit of pressure.
01:11They closed us down quite quickly.
01:12And I thought we were a bit wayward today with our passing.
01:16And we played a little bit more narrow than we would like to.
01:19We tried to open the game out a little bit in the last few weeks and we played a little bit more narrow.
01:24And we didn't really create very much in the way of chances.
01:28Neither team did really in the first half.
01:30But obviously, it took that 30-yard free-kick to break the deadlock.
01:34And then you mentioned the first half obviously didn't quite hit the straps how you'd like.
01:38What was the chat at half-time about trying to turn that round?
01:41Well, we were just very disappointed in our performance, to be honest, at half-time.
01:45And I think the boys all knew it and they were determined to go out and make a difference in the second half.
01:51But then we got caught really quickly with another strike from distance into the far corner.
01:57So, which obviously then gave us a bit of a mountain to climb.
02:00But credit to the lads, you know, the bunch of boys we've got, they're a great bunch of lads.
02:04And they've been training hard, you know, every Wednesday night for an hour and a half.
02:08And I think, you know, the results now, obviously, we needed to win these last three games.
02:14We really needed to because we only took one point out of six versus Buda and Sticker in two tight games.
02:19And luckily, the boys had come through.
02:21And like you said, you can't stop smiling when you've just pulled back from a 2-0 deficit and won 3-2.
02:27Of course. And then obviously that means you're now, I think it's 11 points clear of Launceston at the bottom,
02:32which means, obviously, hopefully you can enjoy the last six games.
02:35What are the targets now for the rest of the season?
02:37Well, just carry on as we are, really.
02:39I think we've improved through the season.
02:41You know, we had eight or nine players leave last year and we've had to build again.
02:45And luckily, Tom Cain has come back from a stint in the Navy in Australia and Adam Steep has come back,
02:53which has obviously helped us when you get players that experience, you know.
02:57So, we've got some good youngsters.
02:59So, I just want to carry on the improvement and I just want to be competitive in every game.
03:03And hopefully, you know, that's nine goals in three games now.
03:07So, we were finding it very difficult to score goals.
03:10So, let's hope that we can continue to create chances.
03:14Perfect.
